POV: It's 2050 and youve wedged your head between the passenger headrest and the door pillar

[-] finallymadeanaccount@lemmy.world 5 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

BEEP "Eyes are not on the road!"

(The word 'road' has the word 'ad' in it).

[-] W98BSoD@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 4 days ago

Please drink verification can.

[-] cRazi_man@europe.pub 27 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

Your POV subscription has also lapsed and you're stuck in 3rd person view. If this subscription is not paid then you will be downgraded to top down (GTA1) view before finally going to the basic plan of text only console.

[-] WhiskyTangoFoxtrot@lemmy.world 12 points 5 days ago

It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue.

[-] jaybone@lemmy.zip 5 points 5 days ago

Text only GTA would be… interesting.

Fuck, I can actually foresee McDonald's advertisements being holographic projected into the bottom corner of your windshield. It's not even much worse than what car companies are already doing with your car.

[-] 1984@lemmy.today 5 points 4 days ago

There is never enough ads.

He's lucky to have the window rolling subscription

[-] jaschen306@sh.itjust.works 3 points 4 days ago

He only paid for the rolling down. It's 2 times the cost for rolling up. 3 times the cost of it's raining.

They'll remove the à la carte pricing once they've lulled you in with it.

[-] DarkFuture@lemmy.world 19 points 5 days ago

I'm still trying to figure out how it's legal to have massive advertisements lining roadways specifically designed to distract drivers.

[-] thermal_shock@lemmy.world 18 points 5 days ago

I think it was ford that submitted a patent for a camera that points forward, reads bilboards, then plays a video on your dash. I hate how shitty technology is being used all in the name of money and advertising.

Well never reach any kind of utopian future where things just work and technology is used for good. It's not about helping and feeding the needy, it's all about satisfying the wealthy. It's a disgusting timeline, literal rapists and genocidal maniacs running countries.

"Post a selfy with your delicious bag of McD's and the hashtag #imlovinit to receive 20 minutes of ad-free windshield time! Ba da ba ba baaa"

[-] 1995ToyotaCorolla@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago

My car keeps saying "time for a McDonald's break!" and pulling into the drive-through. I've been here for five hours, please send help!

[-] tmyakal@infosec.pub 19 points 5 days ago

This is the real reason tech is pushing self-driving cars. If you don't need to see the road, you can look at more advertisements.

And they'll sell it as a cost-saving feature, like smart TVs and Kindle tablets. "We can provide this at a reasonable price because the costs are subsidized with advertising." You can buy a car with a traditional windshield for $80k or with an AdShield (TM) for $40k.

[-] Blibly@lemmy.world 24 points 5 days ago

All this instead of just building more trains jfc

Can't extract as much value with trains as you can with cars

self-driving cars

Something I've never understood about self-driving cars is why would you want the expense of owning one if you're not driving it? It's like how rich people used to own expensive cars but employed a chauffeur and never drove themselves.

[-] ThePantser@sh.itjust.works 6 points 5 days ago

Oops I installed AdShield Block, thanks for the discount car.

Plot twist: In 2050, McDonald's restaurants no longer exist, and nobody eats there anymore. However, the company still generates $66B per year with their "ad free" subscription model.

[-] cantstopthesignal@sh.itjust.works 4 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

Drink two Mountain Dew to enable braking.

[-] 1995ToyotaCorolla@lemmy.world 3 points 4 days ago

We're sorry, we detected insincerity when you said "yum, that was refreshing!" For your safety, all vehicle control functions have been disabled. Please try again in 60 seconds

[-] MsPenguinette@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago

ERROR: Yellow Mellow preference detected. Proceeding to Mountain Dew Education Institute. Nissan thanks you for you cooperation

[-] rizzothesmall@sh.itjust.works 4 points 4 days ago

They already got mine so I have to pay a subscription to big oil or they disable my car

[-] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 4 points 4 days ago

If yew don't eat Fig Newtons than fuck yew.

[-] Jyek@sh.itjust.works 3 points 4 days ago

What is going on? I've now seen two of this exact joke on Lemmy but one is this picture and the other is a video of a different dude in a different car with a different ad in the windshield.

[-] HCSOThrowaway@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago

Someone made a funny joke and now 50 other TikTokers have to redo it.

[-] Karmanopoly@lemmy.world 9 points 5 days ago

Hopefully they still have the "skip ad" feature after 15 seconds

[-] rob_t_firefly@lemmy.world 3 points 4 days ago

RESUME VIEWING

[-] zebidiah@lemmy.ca 6 points 5 days ago

And it'll be the same four fucking ads, over and over and over!

My freemium homies know what I'm talking about....

I welcome the new age of edgyrunners. Hacking(mostly script kiddy stuff but still) and modding is getting really popular.

[-] dream_weasel@sh.itjust.works 2 points 4 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

It will make me drive on the wrong side of the road?

[-] Gammelfisch@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago

Where I have I seen that dashboard?

[-] insanemantis@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago

The trick is simple: just don't buy smart cars

[-] Polisheocket@lemmy.zip 3 points 4 days ago

They’ll start suttle but get bigger and bigger every year

[-] dream_weasel@sh.itjust.works 2 points 4 days ago
