I'm a huge fan of coconut oil. It's inexpensive, it's useful, you can even cook with it, it smells amazing, it has other uses and it's also good for skin and hair.

NSFW, TMICoconut oil works very well as a personal lubricant, for sex. It's solid at room temperature, so you can scoop it up and it melts when you put it on your body.

It smells amazing, it's antimicrobial (so it could neutralize the smell, if there was any), it tastes good (please don't ask...) and it's relatively inexpensive.
And it has that strange oil property where it heats up with body temperature, unlike water-based lube which is just cold. And also, it doesn't dry out easily! I love this stuff, best lube ever!

Just don't use it with condoms! Or so I've been told, I've never used a condom in my life, so I wouldn't know.

I picked up a 200ml jar for about 3$ yesterday. I wanted to test the skin and hair part. So, I melted it in the microwave, rubbed it into my hair and tied it up in a ponytail. Made me a bit dysphoric ngl, cause my forehead started showing through my hair due to my stupid fucking hairline. I hate it.
Anyway, I then decided to rub it all over my body. Everywhere. It was fun and getting oiled up (lol) is actually really fucking pleasant, like wtf? Especially oiling my breasts, that was actually amazing.

So, I basically covered myself in oil. I smelled so freaking good, I love the smell. I waited for about half an hour and now I'm about to take a shower and wash it all off and see if it helped at least a little. I'm expecting at least some effect on my hair, or at least hope for something. Maybe...

Does anyone have experience with this kinda stuff? Oily skincare? Does it work? I'll keep trying it just cause it feels so pleasant. Rubbing oil on boobs...omfg it feels good ๐Ÿ’œ
I guess I'll come back to this when I'm done showering!

Edit: after washing the coconut oil out of my hair and also using a keratin hair mask, thinking this would make my hair look really nice, I dried it. It now looks even more damaged, frizzy, messy and somehow even more masculine than before. My skin is smoother, but that's just because I shaved. Fuck my life. I wasted so many hours on that. Fuck this...

There was a good few years there when coconut oil was my go-to choice. I just like the texture a lot more compared to other things. I'd always buy two at a time, but only one would be for cooking haha.

Then I stopped after I saw a random Reddit comment that said it had calories when used, y'know, internally, and I really should've fact-checked because that... doesn't appear to be true, unless you're putting it in your mouth, obviously. Might start using it again.

Moral of the story? Don't use Reddit xD

Your hair probably needs a humectant. It needs water. Oils will dry out your hair. Then, getting rid of the oil will make your hair frizzy.

Getting hair that has body and volume is a long, multi-step process that easily takes a year or more. You have to figure out what your hair wants, and walk that line until everything falls into harmony.

It's like walking a slack line. When you correct, it swings the other way, then you correct, it swings the other way, etc. And to top it all off, you are blindfolded, and you don't even know where the slack line is to begin.

But girl, don't let that discourage you. This is a process. This is a thing you can do and learn and seize your womanhood by learning about yourself. It is worth all the heartache.

Do you know your hair type?

To add to this, coconut oil can make some people's hair more brittle instead, iirc it's because of the lauric acid. I would recommend clarifying to get the oil out and then lots of conditioner. I have curly hair and find MCT oil better (fractionated coconut oil with no lauric acid, primarily caprylic acid and capric acid) to protect hair. I also like jojoba oil to seal it all in. Coconut oil also makes me break out so I use squalane oil. It's a hit or miss trial and we are very much blindfolded!

That makes sense...sigh. And I thought it would be that easy...
I think my hair is either a 2A or 2B. Very fine, frizzy and honestly damaged beyond repair...

According to trollface physics:

  1. Oil floats in water

  2. Cover yourself in oil

  3. Wait for it to rain

  4. Fly

I stick with a coconut scented body wash. For the oil i use in my hair, cuticles, and skin i us Jojoba oil. You can get fairly big bottles for under 10 usually. It smells like wet camp fire though in large quantities so i usually pair it with a fruit scented hair oil but only use a little of the scented stuff at the end. Though smelling slightly like a wet camp fire is not entirely unpleasant. I like camp fire haha. The Jojoba oil is said to be very good for skin, cuticles, and hair. As much as coconut oil is awesome i don't think it absorbs into the epidermis like you want it to.

ive been using it for lube a lot lately and i think its honestly best when paired with a water based lube. its a great lube for sure, but it just doesnt have as much lubrication as youd like when things get... vigorous lol. its also fantastic for making popcorn. definitely a great oil.

Coconut oil can be comedogenic (aka it gives you spots) and also causes milia in some people so be careful about using it in skincare. It's great for hair and cuticles though.

I look horrible. Usually I at least like how I look after a shower. But now I look worse. What the fuck is happening, I just want out...everything about me is wrong. Please...enough

[-] QueenMiisha@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 3 days ago

Why? Why do I look more masculine after a shower? How?? My hair is worse. Literally so much worse. Even my face looks more square and angular now. Why...please just make it stop. Please make it stop...

Oof, that's like reading my own internal monologue in the form of text.
