It's genuinely insane that anyone is allowed to put that on a road

What a ridiculous gender affirming vehicle.

Very clean for an off road vehicle.

I personally know a guy who owns one of these things. He's a mid-70s white guy who manages money. He lives in Washington DC. It's the ugliest fucking car I've ever seen.

Fits the general tastelessness I observed around the Beltway.

I put aside my dislike for trucks that are used for commutes or even less than that but bpy, is that an ugly disfigured design, lacking any kind of proper proportions.

Luckily that Compensator 9000 is certainly not street legal in the EU.

[-] evasive_chimpanzee@lemmy.world 14 points 3 days ago

Not legal in DC, either, but unfortunately that doesnt stop people

Amazing. You can fit soooo many groceries in that after yoga class.

Looks like both yours and OP's image are from here: apocalypse6x6.com

[-] Dogiedog64@lemmy.world 6 points 3 days ago

I didn't think you could find an uglier car than the cybertruck, but you've done it! Jesus fucking Christ.

[-] Dogiedog64@lemmy.world 9 points 3 days ago

That's a normal beer bottle on the back fender, by the way. This thing is fucking gigantic. It shouldn't be road legal at all.

[-] victorz@lemmy.world 8 points 3 days ago

Why though. What's even the utility of something like this?

Surely, surely... the inconvenience and cost of having something like this in your life must outweigh that of renting a trailer for those off times when you need to haul something.

That thing just looks so stupid and huge and bad.

[-] boonhet@sopuli.xyz 4 points 3 days ago

Car guy here, let me explain!

Nah I'm just fucking with you, I don't have an explanation. This doesn't look fun to drive on roads and despite having more ground clearance than something like a Toyota RAV4 and 6 wheel drive and everything, I wouldn't take it off road either. So much distance between the first and second axle. Damn thing looks like it could bend pretty easily if you drive it the way one ought to drive an off-road vehicle with a Hellcat engine: Like a trophy truck. Because trophy trucks are built to take that beating and this is almost certainly not. So you can crawl slowly with your 900 horsepower tuned Hellcat and watch some dude in a Wrangler pass you at a fifth of the price and a third of the engine size because smaller and lighter is an advantage when going off road over heavy and clumsy usually.

To be fair, it does look totally badass at first glance.

Reminds of those pictures I used to draw of future vehicles with more huge wheels and tracks and sections than necessary. And there were usually laser cannons and grappling hooks on them.

This specimen appears to have neither a laser turret nor giant robot crane claw or saws mounted on it, thus, unacceptable.

Take it away, it offends me.

I've never seen anything this ridiculous in person, but I've seen plenty of dumb trucks. Things like maybe lift kits and low profile tires, wheels kicked out to the side...so setup for off-road but with zero grip, shit turning radius, wobbles on the highway, and also shit for towing.

The one that kills me is $80k trucks in the trailer park. Spend your money how you want, but it seems crazy to have a rapidly depreciating vehicle that's worth more than your home.

There must me an easier way to prove how big your dick is.

Trailers aren't cheap either. The park here has unremarkable units, not even new, in the 60-80k range. Almost a decade ago the lot rent fees were already over 500 a month, and they don't even do any lawn care or snow removal.

I'm sure this is someone who has all their shit toghether. No issues whatsoever.

[-] im_fine_sandy@nord.pub 43 points 3 days ago

In fairness I would have thought this looked cool... When I was 12.

However, it's almost a certainty that a "regular" truck could out perform this thing in every metric.

Its notoriously difficult to get the dual rear axles to provide a meaningful benefit to traction and even load capacity.

However, there will be a huge hit to economy, weight, acceleration, and handling.

In summary it would be an absolute pig to own.

[-] XiJinpingStanAccount@lemmy.ml 26 points 3 days ago

I drive an old ass S10 and it gets better gas mileage and has a bigger bed than most of the newer bigger trucks coming out these days.

Guy probably has an arsenal at home, has a bunch of guns in the truck and at least one or two on him at all times.

And he will be taken out with 1 drone strike if it ever came to actual conflict. I wonder how much that monstrosity cost.

[-] modus@lemmy.world 5 points 3 days ago

It was only $10k, actually. Just put something down, drive it for a few months and let the repo guy come get it. Cheaper than renting.

Woah I've never seen a fully rendered cyber truck, I always just see the ps2 model.

HELL YEAH BROTHER

Where are the confederate, trump and "don't tread on me" flags?? Though this might be the first thing I've see that screams that enough to where they aren't needed, but it's very surprising that a person like that would have enough working brain cells to understand that.

A gender affirming truck for an emasculated insecure manlet.

[-] SchadeMarmelade@feddit.org 26 points 4 days ago

I was talking with a colleague once and he told me to type soemthig (can't remember the name) into google, and that thing came up.

Apparently there is a company, american of course that takes already big toy trucks and turns them into... that.

Their website is full of like post apocalyptic talk. Cuz you know, a giant trucking guzzling gallons of a ressource that will be hard to come by, full of electronics that will stop working after even a tiny EMP hits, will be very useful.

[-] Gradually_Adjusting@lemmy.ca 17 points 4 days ago

Fascists are all about surface aesthetics. That's why everything's about "optics" and "narrative" these days. They don't have a sense of solid reality to any of it. So they see a film like Fury Road and think, 'yes, cool. I must be like Joe'.

They have no sense that Immortan Joe is a desperate fool who has squandered the humanity of everyone in his orbit. If you try to talk about themes and interpretations, you will be met with scorn. That's my experience.

~~Mad Mad~~ Mad Max was written at its time about the pronounced obsession with cars in the mid 20th century. Kinda like American Graffiti.

Later one of the writers (George Miller, maybe) recognized crude doesn't refine itself.

That's something I would have used for my game idea called "Evil Car", a car racing game, where you fuel cars with the blood of orphans, and tune them by sacrificing cute puppies and virgins to it.
