I wonder if one day the world would be forced to recognize that hoarding hundrends of billions is a hurtful and dangerous crime comitted by people with antisocial personality disorders, who should be stopped and treated instead of encouraged.

Wow. Who knew that allowing wealthy individuals to purchase the means of disseminating information would result in that information favouring the views of that wealthy owner. I'm sure unlimited political donations doesn't result in anything similar, either.

I often wonder if a wealthy individual (or several) encouraged the mob to infiltrate unions in the last century in order to destabilize them.

That's always been a thing since the time of the Pinkertons and hasn't changed.

Rockstar games was reported to have had a mole within the Glasgow software union they busted up by firing all of the workers. That jackass did it for extra time off apparently.

[-] frunch@lemmy.world 17 points 2 days ago

The Pinkertons are still around!!

That jackass did it for extra time off apparently.

He... didn't think that maybe the union could help him get that...?

[-] scutiger@lemmy.world 9 points 2 days ago

Ironically, the very same Rockstar Games that was sued by the Pinkertons for portraying them as the bad guys and won because, let's face it, the Pinkertons were the bad guys.

They don't even need to hire infiltrators. All they need is a few lawyers and some politicians in their pockets.

[-] Freeposity@lemmy.world 9 points 2 days ago

Yeah but doing that doesn't kill the reputation of the unions in the eyes of the workers.

[-] NekoKoneko@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago

Well, the Supreme Court said money is speech, so I guess they think so.

[-] Lushed_Lungfish@lemmy.ca 37 points 2 days ago

Any old people here remember when reporters were supposed to be courageous and hold those in power to account by asking hard questions?

[-] Doomsider@lemmy.world 11 points 2 days ago

I think you might be romanticising things a little bit. Here is Edward Murrow from 1954, over seventy years ago, making his critique that journalism was DOA.

I still can't get over how much he cultivates that Lex Luthor vibe, in deed and appearance.

[-] Venator 7 points 2 days ago

Lex Luthor's not that bad!

[-] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 1 points 2 days ago

You know those guys love Lex Luthor behind the scenes. I'm sure they talk about it, probably have a secret LL Society, with passwords, and secret handshakes, and whatnot.

[-] Doomsider@lemmy.world 23 points 2 days ago

Billionaire wants to end unions? You don't say.

[-] modus@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

I. Am. Shocked.

[-] minorkeys@sh.itjust.works 25 points 2 days ago

Stop socializing! It's devastating to our ability to control your lives!

[-] zarathustrad@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago

Socialists gonna socialize?

[-] Lucidlethargy@sh.itjust.works 8 points 2 days ago

This guy is such a poor man's Lex Luthor. All the evil, none of the intelligence.

[-] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 10 points 2 days ago

I'm obsessed with Sociopathic Oligarch-Bashing.

[-] kerryh8er04@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 day ago

Lex Luther cos player.

[-] geekwithsoul@piefed.social 12 points 2 days ago

As a local, one of the interesting things is that WaPo has always been anti-union, especially when it came to the unions of their own employees. It's obviously worse now, but even in their supposed liberal inside-the-Beltway heyday, they were anti-union whenever given the chance. Canceling my subscription almost 15yrs ago remains something I have no regrets about.

The paper seems to argue unerringly in favor of the boss’s financial interests

[-] myyass@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

I'm obsessed with watching him deteriorate.

[-] Widdershins@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

Why does he look like someone else? Did the Hollywood Star Whackers take the original bozos out for being rude to Shatner during a profound moment?

[-] CultLeader4Hire@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

I think he got his droopy eye fixed. He probably also got jaw filler but it’s hard to tell from this angle

I looked at it again I’m positive he got jaw fillers done

[-] voytrekk@sopuli.xyz 2 points 1 day ago

Now he looks like a henchman.

[-] eestileib@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Roganization is like carcinization but for insecure men

(Typo)

[-] decolo@piefed.social 2 points 2 days ago

I am genuinely surprised to hear this from you, what is bad about organization?

[-] eestileib@sh.itjust.works 7 points 2 days ago

Oh goddamnit, I was shit posting about "Roganization" cause he looks like Joe Rogan now.

Thanks for asking, updated because the shit posts must flow. 🫡

STARBUCKS was giving him so much excitment in union busting the cafe shops, everytime they tried to unionize.
