Passed too close or collided? One seems like a fine and one seems like prison time, two quite different level of crimes
The article contains video evidence of the driver aggressively honking then starting to pass with basically zero space to the group of cyclists, then colliding with one cyclist who subsequently crashed. The cyclist got injuries to his vertebrae, but has thankfully made what appears to be a full recovery.
The driver seems to be under the delusion that he did nothing wrong, and that he will "take it all the way to the supreme court".
I think imprisonment is arguably warranted here.
On an atomic level, the car molecules never actually touched the cyclist molecules due to the strong nuclear force repelling them. Therefore he just passed extremely close to them.
I shoulda been a lawyer.
Objection! Your honour, it's not the strong nuclear force that repels atoms from each other but the electromagneticweak force from the atoms' electron shells that repell other objects! Also a collision isn't when atoms come into contact with each other but when they approach each other with sufficient force that the repelling force transfers momentum to those atoms, making their overall velocity harder to maintain control of and/or disrupting the solid structure of one or both objects involved.
Believe it or not, but in official court proceedings and documents, lawyers are officers of the court, and as a result, are not allowed to lie.
(I feel like I should mention, just in case people don't realize, that all of the scientific facts Agent641 mentioned were false. The strong nuclear force is the binding force that keeps the atomic nucleus together. It doesn't repel.)
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it the electrons who, orbiting around the atoms, repel each other since they're all magnetically negative?
You confused magnetism with electricity, which are not the same. They actually repel each other because they're all north, that is if you live in the northern hemisphere. Luckily, earth sits in the habitable zone, so gravity is just strong enough to keep the electrons flying in their orbits.
I respect the hustle of spreading genuine human-made misinformation in the age of AI
Thanks! You too. :)

Close passing, attempted mass murder, who knows?
“He hit my fist with his nose”
And Luigi just shot a gun too close to an executive.
No he didn't. I didn't see him in the video.
He was with me that night. 1000s of miles away across the big pond. Could not have been him
It happens
It needs to happen more.
When you wish upon a star..
What a shit article. The video shows him clearly endangering others for no fucking reason. He had plenty of room to pass safely, but chose to cut it close whole laying on his horn. He deserves the charges and absolutely zero sympathy.
Jesus that site is cancer.
What kind of shitty reporting is this. "Passed too close" to describe someone who drove towards a group of cyclists to bully them and seriously injured one of them?
More like "assault with intent to commit murder." But he's white and Conservative.
So hopefully he dies in prison. Nothing of value will be lost.
73 and recently had a stroke and a heart attack.
Man could die in prison, or behind the wheel again casually driving in a bike lane (or the 'close passing lane' as they call it in Cherokee county)...
We can't put this boy in jail, he's got his whole life behind him!
Yeah no

Reading mode. Nasty of them 😠
Just post a mirror
Somebody has further down this thread.
Woosh
I could access the article fine with the extension Bypass Paywalls Clean
And I just realized this was no longer installed on my machine. Damn it.
Installed and I have access.
I shot a bullet that went too close by someone and now I need to go yo prison! I didn't do anything!
Try it with other things, "A Georgia gunman's bullets caught on video colliding with a group of cyclists..."
Does it sound like it should definitely be a crime? Then it should probably be a crime with a vehicle too.
Paywall
Talk about burying the lede...
A Georgia chef prepared food too close to his customers. Now he could die in prison.
(The chef stabbed a customer to death).
"I didn't do anything wrong!" Insists the driver who got road rage and nearly killed someone with his car.
Make him watch that video every day he's in prison
If people like this were actually capable of shame or rehabilitation prison would be a lot more useful.
The driver had an entire lane open, he had absolutely no reason to get so close to the bicyclists.
But I've been nudged by cars on my motorbike, in one case hard enough to damage my rightside peg and never went down, why did the bicyclist fall like that?
Archive link since that site is pure cancer.
Fuck that article/website as well.
