says he didn’t come back to Ingram to help deport his neighbors. In his telling, he just ended up making it part of his job.

Images of the family he broke up shortly after Christmas would intrude on Alexander’s thoughts for months, he told us. But it didn’t keep him from doing his job.

Martinez told us about a moment when she watched him detain one of her cousins. He allowed the man’s wife and children to hug him goodbye and waited until his 7-year-old daughter wasn’t looking to handcuff him. To Martinez, it seemed as if Alexander was trying to prove to her that he wasn’t a bad person. “But I’m not going to fall for it,” she says.

A very well written portrait of how horrifyingly "well intentioned" evil can be.

The article reads like Lolita. Alexander is the unreliable narrator that is convinced he isn't the bad guy. He regrets the deportations and acknowledges that the ICE program is in Ingram because of him, but he isn't the bad guy. He was fired as a deputy for having an affair and using Sheriff resources to facilitate it, but he isn't a bad guy. The investigator called him a disgrace before throwing him our of the Sheriff's department, but he isn't a bad guy. Sure.

"For context, I’ve deported like six of their family members, and they’re still friendly to me,” he says. “So I’m not the monster they make me out to be.”

I can't even with the despicableness of this guy (the cop).

That's why I compared it to reading Lolita. Wholly detached from reality.

Sounds like a setup for a Netflix murder mystery miniseries

Alexander completed an online course with ICE a few weeks after the baptism party, qualifying him for time-and-a-half pay whenever he helped the agency pick up immigrants.

Bully for pay. He's a prostitute that gets paid to fuck people.

This guy got an $18k raise for 162 stops over a two month period. That means he's getting paid about $111 per attempted kidnapping.

And then has the audacity to claim "he doesn't like to break up families".

My brother in Christ, there's about a million easier ways to make $111 than destroying someone's life. You're not doing it for the money.

You're doing it because you want to.

Fuck this justifying philandering asshole and all the racists like him.

So he made like 18k in fed pay, to "do his job" and gut the town out from the inside, terrorize dozens of families and slow down its post hurricane rebuild. Wow Hill County, money well spent /s
