That the highly competent woman is the first to be blamed, and not the highly and prominently incompetent Hegseth, is telling. Also a minor consolation to them having power for so much longer that they will have less skill supporting their agenda.

Wiles is the latest in a series of prominent female administration officials to leave or be fired ‒ including Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, Press Secretary Katie Zacharia, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, Attorney General Pam Bondi and Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer.

Trump seems to only fire women…

[-] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 16 points 9 hours ago

PeeWee Himmler is Tump's Wormtail, whispering poison into the demented king's ear.

He probably told Trump: "Listen, Big Guy, it's your lame duck era, and you've worked hard enough. You just tend to your legacy and your pet projects, and let me handle the pesky executive functions, okay?" And Trump liked the sound of that.

Now we'll have PeeWee Himmler speaking for a demented president.

I'd say that's the clearest signal from him yet that he has zero intention of signing a single thing that comes across his desk for the next two years. Miller is the guy you put in when you realize it's suddenly time to hide all the bodies, rip all the copper out of the walls, and plant a few IEDs for the next guy to find as you lock the door behind you and break the keys, plain and simple.

[-] daannii@lemmy.world 18 points 15 hours ago

They did a coup last time. Pretty sure they are planning to do another in two years. Miller is just starting with the planning already, moving up in position to start up the fuckery.

[-] mojofrododojo@lemmy.world 9 points 13 hours ago

or allow violence when the blue wave is sworn in. I wouldn't put ANYTHING past these fucks.

[-] GreenBean@lemmy.today 5 points 13 hours ago

This time there'll be no doubt. trump in his snazzy (size xxxxl) black leather trench coat scrreaming orders to storm the Capital building. His Brown Shirts and Storm Troopers in official uniform and black knee boots, goose stepping in formation down the street, flying the flag of a face print in orange and splatter of Weder Tomatkatchup on a wall. They salute with right arms raised in unison and a heartily screamed All Hale the Bigly Yuge Stable Genius as they pass him.

[-] daannii@lemmy.world 3 points 9 hours ago

Do you think they will be wearing diapers with their ear bandaged?

[-] LordMayor@piefed.social 141 points 22 hours ago

Shit about to get even more fascist. Wiles was a piece of shit but a as semi-competent one.

Miller is going to go hard on fascism and give access to Trump to the worst people.

[-] BeanGoblin@lemmy.blahaj.zone 49 points 22 hours ago

The next two months are going to be hell.

[-] dou9m@lemmy.ca 34 points 21 hours ago
[-] TheArtfulLlama@lemmy.world 16 points 20 hours ago

Bold of you to assume he’ll live that long. His dementia is very very obvious and he looks like warmed over shit (more so than usual). Every clock tick is getting louder and louder

[-] Blackfeathr@lemmy.world 14 points 16 hours ago* (last edited 16 hours ago)

I've been hearing some variation of "he'll be dead in a few months" for at least 6 years - I'm not at all convinced unless I see some actual progress.

[-] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 7 points 15 hours ago

I think he's going to live to be 102

[-] dou9m@lemmy.ca 20 points 20 hours ago

His dad lived longer and he’s got the best healthcare in the country. Evil people love proving everyone wrong about how long they’ll live.

By all means, I hope I’m wrong.

In case anybody was in doubt about what Trump's response to the midterms would be -- it is, of course, the double down.

[-] Mulligrubs@lemmy.world 11 points 15 hours ago

Remember when he used to spray paint "hair" on his head?

He is bucking for a vice presidency, I think. He's in my opinion the most dangerous man in the White House.

[-] billwashere@lemmy.world 3 points 13 hours ago

Well he’s definitely in the running for most evil. I’d put Kennedy, Hegseth, and him in a neck and neck race. I don’t really think Trump is evil. Just a narcissistic sociopath with dementia. Not that there a giant amount of difference per se.

[-] cheers_queers@lemmy.zip 7 points 10 hours ago

trump is a child raping piece of garbage who enjoys the pain of others. how can you say he isnt evil lol

[-] billwashere@lemmy.world 4 points 5 hours ago

Well I honestly forgot about that child raping part. That is pretty evil.

[-] zeppo@lemmy.world 82 points 22 hours ago

"I think he learned his lesson" - Susan Collins

[-] cruseo@piefed.world 10 points 16 hours ago

And the irony is now that she lost her job instead

[-] orbituary@lemmy.dbzer0.com 27 points 21 hours ago

I think maybe she finally did.

[-] PancakesCantKillMe@lemmy.world 22 points 21 hours ago
[-] ripcord@lemmy.world 8 points 14 hours ago

Her quotes today confirmed it

[-] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 7 points 16 hours ago* (last edited 16 hours ago)

I could see Collins getting visited by the three ghosts of Christmas and then, afterwards, her response would be: "It's never enough."

If Miller gets the opportunity he will try to seize as much power as he can.

[-] yesman@lemmy.world 54 points 22 hours ago

This is not a signal that Trump is thinking of compromise. Chief of Staff is an incredibly powerful position. By controlling access to the president, they have more control over policy than most cabinet members.

This may be less so w/ Trump bc he's such an undisciplined POTUS. But any power Miller gets will surely be used for wickedness.

[-] NekoKoneko@lemmy.world 38 points 21 hours ago* (last edited 21 hours ago)

Especially because Miller knows the specific ways to manipulate Trump - it's how he's embedded himself so deeply already, effectively controlling domestic law enforcement, immigration and DOJ policy, despite that he still had layers of people separating him. Now by controlling access, he can decide exactly what Trump hears and therefore thinks.

I think we got lucky in 2026 with ICE not at polls, but I think this is the earliest signal to not take a victory lap yet, and that they will try a full coup in or by 2028. It will be VERY hard with them losing the House and Senate, but I still think Miller will try.

[-] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 7 points 15 hours ago* (last edited 15 hours ago)

I've been uncharacteristically optimistic all week, I haven't used any drugs since before election day but I am riding high on a sudden newfound optimism for the future of America, im really excited to see how 2028 plays out, I feel like MAGA is in for a quick demise, and yet there is still a cynical part of me waiting for it all to come crashing down any day now, I worry I'm in for a dangerous crash at the end of this high

[-] RFKJrsBrainworm@sh.itjust.works 2 points 3 hours ago

Like the god-damned villain in a horror movie that just won't die

[-] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 1 points 3 hours ago

We need some prosecutions to make it harder for the MAGA nazis to return

[-] OwOarchist@pawb.social 18 points 21 hours ago

This may be less so w/ Trump bc he’s such an undisciplined POTUS.

This is even more so with Trump, because he's so easily manipulated. He always tends to agree with whoever he talked to most recently -- he even had a meeting with Mamdani and came out of it repeating all Mamdani's talking points and praising what a great guy he was. With the Chief of Staff largely controlling who has access to him, the Chief of Staff can control who he gets manipulated by.

[-] Corkyskog@sh.itjust.works 2 points 5 hours ago

True. But if Miller keeps putting people in front of him that he hates, it will just lead to him crashing out at Miller. I could see a scenario where after a big blow out Natalie whispers in his ear, while she places her hand on his upper thigh and says "sir, we don't need him"

[-] GrumpyGrampa@lemmy.zip 28 points 20 hours ago

In case anybody who isn’t convinced that this Trumpland isn’t a festering racist conclave of rats and haters who have no compassion for human life if their colour isn’t white, then this appointment of the head rat should spell it out clearly to the whole world that the UNITED STATES is now run by a mentally unbalanced demon!

[-] TipRing@lemmy.world 49 points 22 hours ago

Anyone who thought Trump was going to moderate his rhetoric was definitely dreaming. Prepare for the White House to be much, much worse.

[-] dhork@lemmy.world 42 points 22 hours ago

On the other hand, any Democrat who thought that they might be able to work with Trump during his lame duck years just got a dose of reality.

[-] empireOfLove2@lemmy.dbzer0.com 44 points 22 hours ago

I'm sure Schumer and Jefferies are still going to spend two years trying.

[-] Denfa@lemmy.world 10 points 18 hours ago

[-] FrogCat@piefed.social 19 points 21 hours ago

So the voters basically say to Trump "we'd prefer a government that isn't so far-right" and Trump's reaction is to veer even harder to the right
