I suspect Labour will need to lose another election before they get the message this isn't a popular idea.
But it is a popular idea. It polls highly
Among who, though? The general public, party members, previous voters?
General public have favoured it when polled
I note they don't say what the actual question was.
Yes they do:
We asked in our latest Newshub Reid Research poll: Would you support the Government introducing a wealth tax? A clear majority, 53.1 percent, said yes, while just 34.7 percent opposed it.
Was that the exact question though? And how much did the respondents know about the proposal besides that question?

It's interesting to see how our political parties have split apart in such a dramatic way, and become more extreme in their views. Labour and greens want to tax not just what you earn, but also what you own, and National and ACT are busy trashing everything they did.
It's also worth considering there is absolutely no chance the threshold stays at whatever they choose, and will, at best, not be adjusted for inflation, and at worst, be significantly lowered.
From memory, the Green policy didn't actually have a lower threshold for net worth.

Yes it did. $2 million net for individuals and $4m for couples.
