King Country shearer Sacha Bond has taken out a world record by becoming the first woman to shear more than 700 sheep in a nine-hour day.

Bond smashed the current record of 661 with a total of 720 at Centre Hill in Southland on Tuesday.

Shearing a lamb every 45 seconds, she also became the first woman to shear 700 sheep in a day.

She's not just a machine she's a dam factory

I wonder how your back is after 9 hours of shearing...

There's a video of her doing the record on youtube. I can't imagine being bent over at the waist like that and shearing 700 sheep! Must feel insane to finally straigten up after that

Yikes. That's like an average of 45 seconds per sheep. I'm going to add her to my list of people I'm going to arm wrestle when I meet them: Valerie Adams, Lisa Carrington, and now Sacha Bond.

I'm a bit worried.

Wow, that's a huge jump! Not just beating it by a handful...
