Welcome to today’s daily kōrero!

Anyone can make the thread, first in first served. If you are here on a day and there’s no daily thread, feel free to create it!

Anyway, it’s just a chance to talk about your day, what you have planned, what you have done, etc.

So, how’s it going?

Summer, after a brief hiatus, has returned. As have the cruise ship horde.

Too hot. I don't remember it being this hot in the last decade.

At the beginning of the year, I was too slow to realise there would be a possibility of a nice long weekend by taking the Monday off (today). One of my coworkers got in before I could, so I'm here holding the Fort.

I knew about it, and there's pretty much no point in me working when everyone else is off (no need for skeleton crew or anything). However, I've pretty much used all my leave after Christmas + the week off the other week, and school is still on today so it's not like we can go away for the long weekend.

So I thought I might as well just work and catch up on emails and other admin stuff.

Just realised my post should have been a reply to your first post. Finger trouble.

I'm not breaking out in a sweat under the pressure I'll tell ya, except to say that reading the Internet means I drink lots of coffee.

I'll be serious on Wednesday.

Anyone having exciting long weekends?

I'm holding the fort at work, with most others being off today.

Nothing hugely exciting, but I do have the day off today so I went to see a movie. The Iron Claw - about a wrestling family. I'm not into wrestling at all, but I rate Jeremy Allen White as an actor after The Bear, and it was on at a convenient time. Plus it was cheap tickets + free popcorn day at my local theatre (Silky Otter), so that was a bonus.

I have to admit I haven't heard of it, but I'm not exactly up to date with the latest movies. Was it good?

[–] Albatr0ss@lemmy.world 2 points 9 months ago (1 children)

It was alright.. I think I just felt like seeing a movie, but for me there's not much on at the moment (until the next Dune movie comes out anyway).

The last movie I saw was Trolls: Band Together. At least the kids liked it 🤷

Same here. Already had my vacation so, I didn't have any leave to spare. Just spent my weekend reading books and playing around with my Arch box, still tweaking stuff (kind of a never ending process really). I switched most of my system packages over to the new x86-64-v4 arch (AVX512) using CachyOS's repos, and everything seems faster (or could be just placebo lol).

What have you been reading?

[–] d3Xt3r 3 points 9 months ago (2 children)

Just some Korean and Chinese webcomics, mostly centered around martial arts and reincarnation themes (Descended from Divinity and Battle Through the Heavens).

There are dozens of us... dozens!

Sadly there are no c/manhua and c/manhwa communities

It's excellent. I like that the martial arts aspect is only a small part of it - there's also magic, lots of kingdom building stuff, politics, war, relationship dramas etc, very bingeworthy. I'd rate it a solid 8/10.

Nice! I'll make a note to read through it some time.
