Welcome to today’s daily kōrero!

Anyone can make the thread, first in first served. If you are here on a day and there’s no daily thread, feel free to create it!

Anyway, it’s just a chance to talk about your day, what you have planned, what you have done, etc.

So, how’s it going?

Sorry, we had more downtime earlier. Lemmy seems to guzzle up RAM, and when it ran out everything started to collapse.

I've decided to schedule nightly restarts of the lemmy backend, which seems to be all that's necessary to free the RAM. Now we are on 0.19 there is a persistent federation queue, so a restart no longer causes all in-progress federation to be lost.

I've scheduled it for 3am NZ time, when the least amount of people will be online. Hopefully this solves it!

Noted. Hey thanks for all you do! I really like lemmy.nz.

You're welcome! I certainly have a new appreciation for sites that seem to never have downtime 😆

Yeah doing something like that really changes your perspective on what the hard parts are aye.

Thanks for the update, and the effort you put into this.

I don't have a problem with people who walk slowly but I'm feeling stabby about the ones who do it with no situational awareness. Why are people so oblivious?

Idk. I think with some it's hubris, but there's always an outside chance that it's someone with a splitting migraine that's stopping them from thinking straight, etc.

The worst one is the "meat wall", where there's a whole group of them.
