We were away for a week and left it on the side of the road. Doesn't look like they were particularly competent, as they ruined the ignition but didn't manage to start it.

They left quite a mess, bit annoyed to be honest.

Damn, they also smoked in it for 12 years and never cleaned the interior. That’s the bigger crime.

Probably thought it was a Kia.

Suburu also have this issue. OP might have an updated model which needed the hotwire

Oh, so they're the ones that left the crumbs on the floorboard?

Smh probably why they couldn't finish the job, too busy snacking.

Actually, yes. Looked like they ate quite a bit. There were half eaten chocolates all over the car.

Are you sure it wasn't actually giant rats? Looks more like their modus operandi to me.

Same thing happened to me in January (Fendalton). Broke the quarter window, bent the panel, and made a mess tearing the ignition out.

Seems to be a pretty safe crime: police didn't bother coming out to look & just gave me a reference number for my insurance.

You'll lose your no-claims bonus.

Pretty much exactly this. Bit of a hassle really

I mean this in the nicest way possible, but the first thing I noticed was how dirty your interior is.

It also looks like Edward Scissorhands tried to steal your car.

Yeah, they left quite a mess - it was pretty clean before. Don't know what they were eating but they left it everywhere. Admittedly the mud is from me :D

I guess they tried to start it with a rodent?

[–] Anticorp@lemmy.world 5 points 7 months ago

They probably watched some YouTube videos on how to hotwire a car, and were shocked when it didn't work.

Exact same thing happened to NY suburu last month. Excess is greater than the cost of fixing it, so this is permanent for me.

[–] AWOL_muppet 4 points 7 months ago

That sucks!

[–] z00s@lemmy.world 3 points 7 months ago

Someone needs to teach these fucking kids how to steal a car properly

[–] sramder@lemmy.world 3 points 7 months ago

Are you sure you didn’t get into the wrong one?

Jesus, take the wheel!
