In firefox they are enabled by default in the sense that you can get to them via the UI unless you flip some settings, but they don't do anything unless you use them, including not even downloading the models until first use. So yes, I would prefer firefox not have them (except local translation which uses a local model instead of shipping it off to a remote service, which is a useful feature that is better then the alternative ways to do it), but I wouldn't say it's as far as hypocrisy.

I want justice for victims and to stop trafficking as much as anyone, but everyone pinning their hopes on the Epstein files being a backdoor to dismantling this fascist takeover are delusional.

I'll actually put the blame for this on Apple. The fact that the operating system is so hostile to power users and customization is the reason you have to have a third party application to get the scroll to work how you want and assign functions to mouse buttons in the first place.

We believe that AI is no longer a hype cycle, which is why we're writing blog posts hyping us up for using AI instead of what we actually provide

Yup. People always come out of the woodwork defending body shaming bad people. Body shaming anybody perpetuates the ridiculous stigmas, and even if it makes bad people feel bad, it doesn't result in them changing their behavior.

I'm pretty sure it's just people that want to be assholes but have the wherewithal to understand they shouldn't looking for acceptable targets.

They propose removing money from politics, taxing the rich, paying for everybody’s healthcare including dental, and enshrining bodily autonomy rights in law.

some of them propose some of that some of the time.

  1. Removing money from politics is not a party goal.
  2. The party was never behind m4a, just some individuals
  3. they've never attempted to enshrine bodily autonomy rights in law even when they were in power. They just campaign on it then forget as soon as the election ends.

Let's make a deal, Tom. Get proportional representation, one of the variations of voting that fixes first past the post, legislate away citizens united, and have fair, publicly funded elections, and you can have the party you want.

No they're not they're talking purely at a technical level and you're trying to apply mysticism to it.

To my knowledge upgrading to the newer release of any of those linux distros was not blocked by having only slightly old and perfectly serviceable hardware.
