I flew out though Wellington last week, and was told I could keep my laptop in my bag, no doubt due to the new CT scanners.

I know Auckland has these at the International terminal, but have they reached domestic yet? where else in the country?

Thanks this is an interesting read. Probably unsurprising the strong technical job bias and the demographics that goes along with that.

The spoiler tag hides the text of the bar graph but not the actual image!

The hash tag just adds the community name:

“The hashtag is based on the community name, so posts to /c/lemmy will automatically have the hashtag #lemmy. This makes Lemmy posts much easier to discover.”

Not really putting words in your mouth.

If it is totally local, (and able to be disabled easily) then great.

The article says: "Currently there is no indication that it was due to outside influence but the police report was done to cover all bases."

This is odd. I run a similar but smaller facility in New Zealand (3 tanks). If the nitrogen supply fails we have about 18-20 days worth left in the tanks before they run dry. Even then I had a staff member checking every couple of days over Christmas anyway. I wrote an R script to analyse data from the tanks https://rhizobia.nz/r/N2-tanks.html to get a good idea of usage.

Just strange to me that a much more well funded organisation didn't do better.

There are a lot of fungi that might be the genus "P."! This is Puccinia monoica a rust fungus.

You can still use the PWA (progressive web app) for your home lemmy site. This works well.

Does anyone know of a matrix client that is able to run on very old iOS version, namely 10.3.4 ?

The initial trial will be with pure compound, eventually moving to whole mushroom.

Exciting news today that my collaborators have been granted the first licence in NZ to cultivate Psilocybe ‘magic mushrooms’ for use in helping addiction to methamphetamine. I am providing advice on the mushrooms. #mycology 🧪

Thoughts on watchOS 10 (www.apple.com)
submitted 3 years ago by bevan to c/applewatch@lemmy.world

What are your thoughts on the new watchOS 10? So far it seems OK to me, but I am missing the edge-to-edge screen swiping to change watch faces, why was this removed?

Well Apollo has shut down so time to get rid of Reddit. I am currently using Power Delete Suite https://codepen.io/Deestan/full/gOQagRO/ to overwrite all of my old posts with some random text, then tomorrow I will run it again to actually delete all of the posts / comments.

Apparently if you just delete they can be easily restored.

Anyone else going down this path?

Although a list of what not to do is inevitable, why not have the opening and overriding rule be positive, encouraging the behavior we want rather than listed all the stuff we don't.

E.g. "be awesome to each other" rather than "don't be a dick"

country: USA for lemmy.nz ! (the-federation.info)
submitted 3 years ago by bevan to c/support

Now this is incredibly minor so drop it to the bottom of your 'to do' list, but for some reason the country is set to USA for lemmy.nz on the Federation info site.

Perhaps a default config somewhere, or interpreted from cloudflare?

over on wikipedia we put a lot of thought into the place names (a major battle was macrons...). Why not have both in the display name? e.g. sidebar here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wellington

[-] bevan 6 points 3 years ago

It would be interesting if that was the case, but RNZ did say "an investigation is under way into "the alleged conduct of one employee" who has been "placed on leave while we look into these matters."" That would be a very reactionary thing to do from an employer if there was just the possibility of an account being hacked.
