If I had £500k I’d buy a 10-20 acre small holding and make a decent living. Design it so it’s easy to manage, no expensive machinery and rough calculations should net me £50k a year from a handful of products.

Setup a shop so people can order to pickup and you’re only picking what people order so costs are kept low.

But if I had that kinda money, I could live off £5k a year because I’d pretty much have no electric costs and I don’t like going out so if i didn’t have debt, I’d live a comfy life on very little.

'It happens on device'

I think people have lost the disconnect.

Yet, it makes BILLIONS and companies spend billions on it,

The question is where does THAT money come from? And then ask yourself why everything is so expensive… because ad money isn’t plucked out of thin air. It’s added to pretty much EVERY product you buy.

So until people boycott ad products more than buying then nothing will change and everything will just keep getting more expensive as they all outbid each other for ad space because they don’t care how much it costs them because it’ll always get taken out of your wallet!

And what do you do when its a requirement to buy food, submit tax returns, get healthcare?

This is the problem people don’t understand. We have the same issue now in the UK. People think a voluntary system is easy ro just ignore until everything you rely and need forces you to starve or submit.

And its not going to stop at just age verification, it’ll continue until all you get to enjoy is maybe a loaf of bread, and some pond water! 🤦‍♂️

Its not hard to see what they’re doing…

First they add negative comments, then follow up with a positive post to seem like they’re being Impartial!

It’d be interesting to see how often the negative comments are put before the positive comments though because i’d guess it’s a lot higher than the reverse!

Ugh, most of mine are usually “I’m 23 and I made 3m on tiktok in 12 months…”

If you really made 3m then wtf are you making no quality tiktok videos instead of enjoying life are ruining tiktok even more by cluttering it up with even more god awful videos?

Because you didn’t… and this is the critical thinking no-one bothers to taught themselves so get easily scammed.

Like the “Voltage harmonisers” that “cut you’re bill by ½”. Anyone with 1 braincell would understand electric is charged by watts because its the value that doesn’t change when voltage or amps change!

I normally only watch tiktok when waiting for something to finish but I’m almost at the point now where it’s more interesting to watch paint dry than try find anything fun on tiktok. 😞

If tiktok videos where honest they’d be saying “If don’t have any conscience or empathy, you too can get rich by ripping morons off and conning them into re-selling your garbage so you don’t have to.”

I’m not sure I can answer that yet.

So what I’d suggest is sending me 10k and i’ll see if I take. However I’d also suggest we do multiple runs just to confirm consistency. I hear 100 times is a good number for checking consistencies.

I think so much posted online isn’t real as such and more fabricated and what I classify as ‘engagement bait’

TikTok is full of it and seems to have got worse now AI slop machine can churn it out en-mass.

If you aren’t running it yourself, you’ll always be held hostage by toxic companies!

Time and time again, from account closures to account locking… if you value anything, you should really look at self hosting it. Yes it’s a learning curve, but now is actually a good time because you have claude to help, but don’t expect that to last!

I am and will only ever use the free tier of claude but even that is actually pretty useful. Just don’t reuse the same chat, create new ones, delete ones no longer needed and you rarely hit the usage limits.

I’ve used claude to get my own AI server running on a low power beelink PC and while i’m still learning, it runs pretty well so Imcan now bounce between my own AI, to claude for the few issues I can’t solve.

This is how you tell rich people have some serious mental health issue.

Decent people would rather a world where people worked because they enjoy that type of work rather than being forced to do it because they need money to live.

If you removed money, imagine where we'd all be as a society without the toxicity of money, wars and hate! :(

Are people surprised?

They don’t care if AI is accurate, they just want another thing to blame the same way they blame religion.

“Oh my bad, the AI is highly trained but the camera must’ve blurred and confused the AI so not OUR fault”

But its ok, I’m sure they won’t abuse age verification to target people they don’t like. 🙄🤦‍♂️

I wasn't a huge discord use but I just removed all the channels before deleting the app on every device.

Not going to make a huge difference but if everyone does it, maybe it will!

Ok, so I’ve tried a few open source apps for tracking money and they’re either too complicated, a hassle to setup or don’t use mysql/mariadb so would require setting up PostgreSQL 😖

I’m currently using forecast for the iPad which is great but I’m trying to wean myself off Apple giving they’re going to shit too and find all the docker versions I’ve got working are too complicated /faff to use and seem to focus on what you’ve already spent.

So anyone have suggestions for: Simple docker setup Mysql if it won’t do flat file 3 month future forecasting based on recurring transaction

I don’t care what I’ve spent, I want to know, based on the recurring transaction, what my balance is over the next 3 months, so I know if i have spare money to spend/save.

Seems a lot of budgeting apps miss that somehow. 🤨

——— Edit: theres a lot of replies to sort through but thanks to everyone for responding.

I’ve done spreadsheets but it’s still a hassle to setup and I have enough going on to be faffing about trying to learn graphs which is what i’d really like.

I’ve also tried a lot that are listed on https://selfh.st/ but even actualbudget doesn’t seem to be able to forecast unless i’m missing something?

DollarDollar seems interesting but requires postgras and actualbudget seems nice but unless i’m missing something still can’t show future cashflow even if you add something as recurring?

Seems odd that all these apps offer tons of features for what you’ve already spent but nothing for how much you have to spend over the next 2-3 months which is all i care about. 😕
