Damn. Ah well thanks for tracking that down. I think I found the git project page earlier but didn’t look through the issues log.

A bit off topic, but is anyone running a Simagic wheel for racing on Linux? I’ve kept a large windows drive solely for my sim racing racing but looking through proton it appears that most of the games are compatible. Only concern now would be whether my hardware is supported.

Pretty happy that I’ll be dead with no descendants when things really start to get bad. I’m doing my best in my country to try and avert or at least mitigate the worst effects of climate change, but it’s more and more of a struggle each day.

Assuming you’re primarily interested in gaming performance; wait for reliable 3rd party non-DLSS benchmarks.

From the Nvidia presentation, the 5070ti looks great, but the performance uplift over previous gen in their slides pretty much only applies to games with frame generation. Not every game will implement DLSS 4 let alone DLSS. You may still need the better rasterisation of the 5080 depending on your monitor resolution and desired fps.

Quickly browsing through the tracks I’d say it’s a mixture of proper techno sub-genres. Some melodic, a bit of bleep or acid, and a few hard/industrial peak-time tunes. Add “techno” onto the end of those adjectives and you have your genres.

Huh TIL. Sorry if I sounded dismissive of GNOME, I was just going by what has and hasn’t been implemented. I actually hated how Plasma looked and how it was set out so ended up getting a global Mac OS theme to fix it.

Part of the reason for dual booting is to figure out which DE I prefer having only just moved over from windows.

[–] terraborra 5 points 1 week ago (2 children)

I’m currently dual booting Pop OS and Fedora KDE edition with a 3080, so essentially using both an old GNOME version (Pop) and Plasma 6 (Fedora). Pop works straight out of the box if you choose the Nvidia install and the Nvidia controls are fairly similar to Windows.

Fedora gave me some problems getting it going, but once I’d opted in to proprietary drivers, and did a few updates, it’s been all good. The HDR implementation in Plasma is way better than Win 10 and the only issue with VRR is that it won’t work if you have a multi-monitor setup. Turning off the other monitors works fine. The gpu controls are more limited though.

GNOME is a bit behind Plasma. VRR is an experimental feature and HDR doesn’t run on Nvidia cards. Both should be fixed sometime this year I believe.

If you undervolt your card you are out of luck. There are some limited overclocking tools but underclocking seems like a bit of a nightmare.

Yup wouldn’t work over any other ports. Had to move the other service off of it but it now works.

[–] terraborra 2 points 1 week ago

Solved with this solution. It would only work over 80 and 443.

Lighttpd was using port 80 for pihole. Back when I set it up you could change the server port but it would be overwritten every time pi hole was redeployed, hence why I didn’t just change this in the first instance. They seem to have updated it so that editing the .conf and changing the port number will persist.

I should have said in the main text, I have something else on port 80 and I though best practice was not to expose 80 or 443?

I'm trying to host a vaultwarden instance through docker and failing miserably. This isn't my first attempt either but I've got much further than before.

I'm using a DuckDNS domain with caddy as reverse proxy, but it appears that the domain is defaulting to port 80 no matter how I set up the config. I can't specify a port number in DuckDNS as far as I can tell. If the simple solution is to just buy a domain name I will consider it. Otherwise could really use some help in sorting out why it's not connecting.

I can't access Vaultwarden on the internal IP as it's not being served as SSL but both Vaultwarden and Caddy are running with no errors in logs. I've left out a bunch of admin env variables for the Vaultwarden service to truncate the code.

docker-compose:

`[___](services:

vaultwarden:

container_name: vaultwarden

image: vaultwarden/server:latest

restart: unless-stopped

ports:

  - 11808:80

  - 11443:443

volumes:

  - ./data/:/data/

environment:

  - ROCKET_PORT=11444

caddy:

image: caddy:2

container_name: caddy2

restart: always

ports:

  - 1808:11808

  - 1443:11443

volumes:

  - ./caddy:/usr/bin/caddy

  - ./Caddyfile:/etc/caddy/Caddyfile:ro

  - ./caddy-config:/config

  - ./caddy-data:/data

environment:

  DOMAIN: "https://example.duckdns.org"

  EMAIL: "example@domain.com"

  DUCKDNS_TOKEN: "token"

  LOG_FILE: "/data/access.log")`

Caddyfile:

' {$DOMAIN}:1443 {

log {

level INFO

output file {$LOG_FILE} {

  roll_size 10MB

  roll_keep 10

}

}

tls {

dns duckdns {$DUCKDNS_TOKEN}

}

encode gzip

Notifications redirected to the WebSocket server

reverse_proxy /notifications/hub vaultwarden:3012

Proxy everything else to Rocket

reverse_proxy vaultwarden:11444

}`

Any idea where I'm going wrong?

Are you trying to run versions of the games that were installed through the windows steam app? If so, you need to do a fresh install through the Linux client.

Merry Christmas dnb crew. I got back into mixing and producing this year after a 15 year hiatus and polished off this mix today. It’s a mixture of neuro, darkstep and techstep, mainly the tunes I have on repeat which is why there’s a few older ones in there.

I’m pretty happy with it, but unbiased feedback would be great even if it’s critical.

Coming from an 8700K so will be interesting to see how Assetto Corsa and Path of Exile do with the significant cpu upgrade.

A Kiwi classic for the start of summer festie season.

Lol, that was quick. Effectively, “Thanks for your supporters but we’ll be fine without you”.

Google pushed their Ai Overview onto my country last night and that finally gave me the push to change search engines.

One thing I did find useful was having product prices displayed in the search result headers but this doesn’t appear to be enabled in any other engine. I used it to quickly scan between retailers as not everything shows up in pricespy or priceme.

I deployed a searxng instance this morning and have heard that you can use json to modify result presentation. Does anyone know if it’s possible to use that to display prices?

Upgrading from an 8700k to a 9800x3d once it’s out. It’s currently a long weekend in New Zealand so there are some decent sales, but we do suffer from a real lack of choice. E.G I'm sure somebody will recommend the Tomahawk but it’s out of stock and NZD 500.

My main criteria for a motherboard is having 3+ m2 slots. I’d previously found the ASUS TUF GAMING B650-E ATX for NZD360, but the MSI X670E GAMING PLUS ATX has recently been listed for NZD400.

I’ve previously almost exclusively used Asus mobos and am not concerned about Asus’ poor reputation for RMA as we have legal consumer protections that mean I deal with the retailer not Asus. So I’m happy to go ahead with the Tuf but wondering if it’s worth paying the extra $40 for an x670e board?

Anybody have experience with either mobo they can share?

For a party that ran its campaign on devolving decision making to the regions, this is massive overreach.

I know first hand the infrastructure problems facing Wellington but the council literally only just had the vote. They need to be given the opportunity to find solutions, and go back to the public for consultation, rather than being blackmailed by the minister. Very much comes across as “do as I say, or else” given their hard on for asset sales.

Cinnabon confirms expansion to NZ (www.fmcgbusiness.co.nz)

Coming to Westfield Newmarket.

I’m an absolute sucker for Cinnabons and make it my mission to have one if I’m ever in the states. I will say that the mini Costco ones have been good to tie me over but nothing beats the real deal.
