*Independent journalism is generally free from government and corporate interests, and not controlled by a major media conglomerate. “Independence” is a gradient, so use your best judgement when posting.
*All souces must be based in Canada but do not need to be about Canada.
*Current depends on whether new, publicly available information has been released since the article has last been updated. When in doubt, add the publishing or last revision date to the title in a tag [like this.]

All communities were created with the goal of increasing media literacy and media pluralism.

The journalist nailed it; No one wants this. No one asked for this.
I'm a millenial who grew up with Harry Potter. I have disposable income. I would probably be their prime demographic. I don't want this.
Just this morning I was thinking about all the ridiculous brand collaborations I've been seeing lately. It's non-stop, and it's exhausting. Brands must be desperate to get our money.
I'm a millennial with no real connection to Harry Potter, but people's nostalgia for the subject makes them fucking insane when it comes to the subject.
Same. I remember seeing the first Harry Potter movie in theaters with my friends and trying to guess who the half blood prince was before that book came out.
It's pretty surreal that I now have to choose between real human lives and wizard fiction, but I'm choosing the human lives.
I can't tell which I hate more, the ads or the bootlickers who defend this kinda stuff as if they weren't ads. I don't want "crossovers" I don't want "special events" I don't want "limited promotions" just let me buy the product I consume in peace.
