Wait a second. This is a meme community so I assume you're joking but... don't you lot have paid sick leave or parental leave?
Depends on the state and employer. They're talking about making it mandatory at the federal level.
If I got this right, you usually have a limited amount of sick days in the US. If they're out, you're out of luck.
Often times there's no distinction between sick time and leave. So if you take a day off because your sick that's one less day for a vacation.
Some jobs don't even give you leave. You don't work you don't get paid.
You actually don't have any guaranteed sick leave. Some companies will give a few days to you for exclusive sick leave, some will require you to use your PTO, some (like my current) require a doctor's note for any sick leave use, some don't.
Now you start to understand how COVID spread so fast here.
You're right, and that's IF you're lucky enough to be granted sick leave. It's not a legal requirement. I, for example, have none. When I'm sick I don't get paid.
So if you are contagious, you are forced to spread it?
Exactly so.
This is so outlandish to me. There are so many studies that show how bad this is, also on an economical level...
Meanwhile my colleagues can even call in sick when their kids are ill.
The modern US is very anti-science 😭
That's just so insane. How are people ok with that like, "yeah that's fair, I want more conservatives to run my life because they're making life harder for me and rob me of any sense of reciprocal goodwill towards society! USA USA USA!"
