Not that I trust their privacy-preserving approach considering what got leaked the last time they tried it.

Fluxer has been an adequate replacement for my ttrpg group, for anyone else looking for alternatives.

I've been using fluxer for a little while now, and it is pretty good! Though I'm looking forward to bug fixes for the screensharing and eventually federation being introduced

[-] iamthetot@piefed.ca 4 points 1 week ago

Screensharing definitely could use some work. They've improved the app a lot over the six or so months we've been using it. We absolutely still have some hiccups but worth it to ditch Discord.

It is pure Ai slop that won't be around in 3 years. I am open to counter arguments.

[-] ElectroLisa@piefed.blahaj.zone 6 points 1 week ago

I looked up their GitHub repo and I don't see the "agents.md" file, AI/LLM disclosures nor signs of LLMs in the commit history. Is there any source of information on Fluxer being slop?

[-] northertech@fedia.io 3 points 6 days ago

When I read the repo a few months ago, I saw one guy added more than 1m of code. They are deceiving everyone and should be punished.

[-] ElectroLisa@piefed.blahaj.zone 2 points 6 days ago

Isn't this because Fluxer source code was published after the app has been launched?

People suspected he'd uploaded Fluxer in one big chunk to hide LLM usage. He admitted to using some AI help initially but claimed that he would use it sparingly.

This new issue is that he seems to be using LLMs heavily, based on the fact that he uploaded a million lines of code last month alone.

I checked again today and it is 11m lines of code added. Do people not understand what it takes to code 1 million lines? PostgreSQL is around 1m. PHP the language and runtime are 1m. The man hours required for that much code is ridiculous.

[-] iamthetot@piefed.ca 4 points 1 week ago

It's free and open source, and I don't think perfect should stand in the way of good. If my group needs to migrate in 3 years, so be it; it's working now and isn't a Microsoft product.

[-] northertech@fedia.io 4 points 6 days ago

Okay, trust the security of something with over 11m lines of code added in 2026 by one person.

Slop project, not sustainable. Matrix is the way.

[-] dudesss@lemmy.ca 1 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago)

Matrix is good. But its way too secure for my liking. Every time I log into a new device, I need to either use a previous device to verify, or add the new device by erasing my previous messages.

I am not recommending Matrix at all to someone who is not good at the computers mainly for this reason.

It has good, stable, and large enough communities however.

[-] ProdigalFrog@slrpnk.net 1 points 4 days ago

Movim might be a good option.

[-] iamthetot@piefed.ca 7 points 1 week ago

Matrix unfortunately wasn't going to work for my group.

I don't know why people are downvoting you, you are right. It is a garbage project all you have to do is look at the git history.
