Am I out of date on definitions already? Doesn't "biological male" refer to "biological sex," which while not synonymous with sex at birth is much more closely connected to it than gender?
Biological male is a transphobic dog whistle. And a binary application of biological sex itself isn’t good either, sex is complicated.
Here's a primer for journalists. It explains that the problem with biological sex is that it is ambiguous and could mean one of several things that may not align.
What do you call a biological male that's not "a dog whistle"?
"Dude."
I think a better question is why do you need to specify that?
Not OP and I get your point but I think if people are generally trying to figure out the correct words for things, esp when those things could upset someone, we should try to be a bit less dismissive. If someone uses the wrong word for a thing in my field (and it is a case where it actually matters) I try to gently correct them. OP seems sincere here, people are curious, and both of those are things to be encouraged I think. That said, I can understand how when you're having these interactions every day it can be exhausting.
What if you're a doctor?
Are you a doctor? In what capacity for my healthcare does that matter? On the very rare chance it is medically relevant I will let you know that I am a trans woman.
Amab, if you have to. Better to just not though
Check this shit out. Sex and gender are not cut-and-dry, they're words we came up with. https://www.bbc.com/news/magazine-34290981
