Climate Pledge Arena is in Seattle, his hometown. But he knows the area and if he really wants to rile up some resistance do a word of mouth diy concert in Cal Anderson. Also the Climate Pledge Arena has their lights on 24/7 and this has nothing to do with anything but I want to know how much electricity they blow per year while sitting unused

[-] cantstopthesignal@sh.itjust.works 6 points 12 hours ago

They have pledged to ruin the climate by using as much power as possible?

[-] Flames5123@sh.itjust.works 2 points 11 hours ago

Climate pledge arena is the first net zero arena though. It offsets stuff by buying renewable energy credits from Seattle city light and also solar arrays and whatnot. But still, it could save about 5% more power by turning the lights off.

[-] gothmog@lemmy.today 12 points 23 hours ago

Oh, I can also see him popping up in Portland as well. I'll keep my eye out.

You really gotta! I nearly hit him with my truck in NE PDX a few years back —when he darted between two parked cars just after the intersection!

When I looked in my mirrors to see who the insanely lucky fucker was, I couldn't believe I'd almost killed Macklemore! To his credit, he did look back to shout an apology and wave thanks, before running across campus.

Still, though. Watch out! 😅😬

He does surprise small venues around here sometimes too.

The City of Seattle owns the shell and the 2 other groups lease and operate it.

The City of Seattle owns the shell and the 2 other groups lease and operate it.

Sounds like that needs to be voided due to the manager's breach. It is not acceptable for a public property to be misused for bigotry and discrimination. Even if the contract doesn't have some explicit clause addressing it, it can't supersede the law and the City of Seattle cannot allow itself to be party to that behavior.

I don't see how the amount of electricity climate pledge arena uses accomplishing absolutely nothing is relevant.

[-] PapaStevesy@lemmy.world 11 points 15 hours ago

I don't see

No you can see, because the lights are always on. That's the problem.

also I haven't been to Seattle in the last decade.

[-] Sasquatch@lemmy.ml 2 points 14 hours ago

but those lights are probably pretty bright. No way you haven't seen them

[-] Burn_The_Right@lemmy.today 2 points 14 hours ago

I have been informed by conservatives that Seattle, like Portland, has been completely burned down and demolished by "violent libs". Nothing to see anymore. What a shame.

shit, sorry, might've been my fault. I am the queen of international anarchism.

[-] Breezy@lemmy.world 2 points 15 hours ago

Yeah but there are people inside all the time even at night every day. Of course they could cut half the lights but its not like some huge empty place with no one at all.

[-] RustySharp@programming.dev 18 points 23 hours ago

is relevant

It isn't. They even said so, ".. has nothing to do with anything"

[-] thinkingofyouihaveananxietydisorder@quokk.au 1 points 23 hours ago* (last edited 22 hours ago)

right. its fine. only an eco-terrorist would worry about this kind of thing, and I'm not a terrorist so I'm jot worrying. tell me, are you a terrorist?

[-] kestrel7_7@lemmy.world 1 points 7 hours ago

Planet’s dyin’, Cloud.

[-] zout@fedia.io 23 points 21 hours ago

Call me a terrorist, but a place named climate pledge arena should't be that wasteful with electricity.

[-] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 11 points 16 hours ago

The person you're arguing with is a troll. In another thread they were responding to the recent election results by... advocating for senseless violence. I shit you not.

And then they had the audacity of accusing me of wanting to basically sacrifice babies because I had the gall to say that nobody wants their filth.

They're being disingenuous and just want to stir shit up.

well that just seems anti-freedom, you damn terrorist. you're gonna have to burn a lot of trash to get over those allegations.

[-] NewDark@lemmy.today 10 points 22 hours ago

The terrorism is the climate disaster we are barreling towards. But those same people have taught your baby brain the thought terminating cliche of "terrorist" so you turn your attention toward those that recognize the danger.

I'm sorry, but this dumb shit just really rubs me the wrong way.

[-] Tyrq@lemmy.dbzer0.com 11 points 22 hours ago

This guy has been trolling for a few days now, I'd just block and move on

[-] thinkingofyouihaveananxietydisorder@quokk.au 2 points 21 hours ago* (last edited 21 hours ago)

yes, all satire irony and complex ideas are trolling. anything not immediately legible as agreeing with you in a straightforward earnest way you can identify with is trolling. god I'm such a troll.

[-] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 4 points 16 hours ago

complex ideas

The complex ideas:

straw is a real material that exists. some positions are just stupid and awful.

[-] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 2 points 14 hours ago

straw is a real material that exists

Yes, that's why people can make scarecrows out if it. You know, the dummies that are posted up in fields to resemble people even though they have no conscience nor personhood in reality.

some positions are just stupid and awful.

Like yours, for instance.

what is my position, again? can you explain it back to me?

[-] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 3 points 14 hours ago

I don't think you could even explain your position, but judging from your comments it seems evident that your only goal is to stir shit up and dampen people's enthusiasm for progress, so I don't feel any need or obligation to try applying ciphers from The Book of Troll Steganography in attempt to decode the inane drivel you're leaving in your wake like a slug trail.

so you can't even be asked to scroll up. love that. fuck off fascist.

[-] lastweakness@lemmy.world 2 points 17 hours ago

It stopped being funny to me when "satire" just became how a lot of real people speak.

so you being sick of something is trolling? I've had four baked potatoes and three plates of cheese fries this week due to unfortunate grocery decisions and a busted fridge, so I guess potatoes are trolling now.

[-] lastweakness@lemmy.world 2 points 17 hours ago

No, you just have to be a bit more absurd now for satire to register as satire. It's not your fault or mine, just the state of the world we live in.

well, I guess I just have better reading comprehension. which is enough; I and the feds are my only audience.

wow, being rubbed the wrong way by asking if you're a terrorist? must be a terrorist. or maybe a shark, but I'm afraid of sharks so they're also terrorists.
