Are you REALLY SURE you have lungs? If so... what makes you so sure?

Why are coders so desperate to replace themselves with ai?

...

(Obligatory not all coders. I know there are many that hate ai and hate being required to use it at work, but its really starting to feel like they’re in the minority)

Because real coders are no fucking luddites who cannot see that they defend a ship that is not only sinking, its deck is already submerged. You either accept that the oh so glorious past is gone, dead and buried and move on or you become some weird neckbeard who defends coding using ed via teletype.

The thing is... as someone who lives in Germany this feels not threatening, quiet the contrary. Bring it on Vlad! Strike something in Germany and give us the reason to end this idiocy so that we can turn our attention back to important matters!

Oh this brings back unpleasant memories of my first month in military service in Germany 20 years ago... very, very unpleasant memories...

You mean in the same way as the Hitler youth that famously revolted against the Nazi state?

If fascist A helps you to fend off fascist B... yeah, it absolutely is.

I think one has to look at the danger of a bursting AI bubble with the crisis=opportunity mindset: If the bubble pops there will be THE opportunity to buy and profit when the market moves up again... yeah, it will perhaps not go back up to the all time high but there is a healthy profit to make.

I think "matching geopolitical interests" is a better fitting reason.

Absolutely normal.

It is absolutely normal if one is not completely fixated on second world war. And the "last time" Germany had an significant military was not in the 30s and 40s... it was in the 80s, with strong ties to NATO and firmly on the ground of the German constitution.
