It was stupid.

Given the polling at the time, neither side had enough to govern without opportunity. It is even worse now.

Ruling out opportunity, effectively ruled out being in government.

The reduction of power of NZF and Act is a major win in my book.

Even if Nat/NZF/Act get back in, having a new party to reduce their influence is great.

Opportunity has said that they will release their bottom lines this month. So it will be very interesting to see where they will conflict with NZF and Act.

Nice to see that Opportunity is above NZF.

I grew up around the ocean, but now live near the mountains.

But then again, I live in New Zealand, so the ocean is not to far away.

Recently broke the main blade on our food processor.

Replacement parts are unavailable.

KW715708 is the blade, but everywhere is out of stock.

So I'm looking for a replacement that is known for keeping parts available for years.

BIFL crew, what are your recommendations?

Kiapara ki Maurangi; is now up for grabs. With Chris Penk not seeking re-election after the leadership debacle.

He held the seat for 9 years; and won in 2023 with an almost 20k majority.

I doubt that it will switch away from National with such a clear lead. We don't know who National will put up though.

There are two other high profile contenders:

  • Opportunity deputy leader Daniel Eb.
  • NZF's Jenny Marcroft, who has a seat from list position.

Opportunity up t0 6.1%

TPU has typically been unfriendly to Opportunity. This is a big change; almost doubling since last TPU poll a month ago.

I love the 'numpties and yahoos' comments.

The Nats are going lower and Luxon is ruling out possible allies.....

I'm happy that opportunity is gaining regularly. Looking very likely that they will be in parliament after the election.

My laptop stopped charging last week, it ran until the battery died. I tested a bunch of USB-C chargers and cables.... Fuck!

It is 7 years old, which is my second shortest run from a laptop.

I started looking at replacements, I have my eye on a Framework, the 13 Pro specifically, now that ship to NZ.

But fuck, $1600NZD for 32GB.... That is almost what I paid for my whole previous laptop. Luckily I can take my 4TB SSD from my failed machine, otherwise $1800NZD to replace that.

Update:
I ordered a second hand HP, $940NZD with 32GB of RAM. A couple of years newer than the failed one.

I'll see if there is a repair cafe near where I am, but this is a good solution for now.

Thanks for all the replies.

NZ has a exercise caution advisory for USA......

I personally have a "don't risk it" advisory; especially if you are anything other than white.

In the year 2100 on my 120th birthday, looking to the adoring eyes of my decedents.

"I was there, at the beginning, it was glorious and it was terrible, we had Charlie the Unicorn and Nyan cat, but also there was two girls and one cup....those days are gone now; forgotten the memes have morphed and combined new ones have spawned, the originals are no more"

Something explained to me...

I was 41 when I realised that people actually see things in their minds eye. It is not just a metaphor.

Blew my mind, like it is some kind of superpower, you can just imagine stuff, and you see an image of it....

My partner is such a good cook, partly because she can combine flavours in her mind, to check if they will taste good together, that is just fucken cheating.

When people "get a song stuck in their head" they can literally hear it.... How the fuck do you get anything done, you crazy bastards.
