That's fair, I've definitely found plenty of smart folks there, just drunk ones. But I'm also a bit of a party girl myself. Ok maybe more than a bit… Go to the sorts of place you suspect the folks you're interested in meeting go to. But don't discount the bars and parties, I've discussed more literature at gay bars than you'd think, and there's a certain vibe to a bunch of drunk lesbians gushing over The Dispossessed

Yeah finally got around to watching it tonight and I was basically sobbing the whole time. It wasn't quite what I expected, but it was so amazingly good. In addition to capturing the feeling of being an egg and seeing someone like you. The connection hit really hard as well. It also just did an amazing job of conveying dysphoric disassociation. I also loved the use of monochrome lighting and fluorescent coloring to blur the feeling of real and unreal.

So yeah, absolutely amazing cathartic cry movie, though IDK if it's a great one to show to cis loved ones to show how it feels.

And it's made me feel the need to get around to watching Veneno, which I've been putting off for several years. I suppose I don't get to complain about not having enough great trans media if it exists and I don't watch it, so I guess I gotta go watch it. When I do I'll try to remember to post a review of it too. I've already seen the first episode and loved it.

Thank you for bringing such a well thought out answer to a topic so often lacking serious understanding of society's failures and the cascade of struggles. Irl I make a point to acknowledge that I've been homeless (very briefly) and housing insecure when these topics come up because so many people think of homeless people as fundamentally alien, and I hope that by being open about such experiences I can help them understand that homelessness is something even someone like me can have experienced

Not even the bad ones who will never change deserve to be stuck on the cold streets. I've been homeless, it was brief, but it fucking sucked, especially since I was a full time student.

A large portion of homeless people have just fallen on hard times. The rest need support, for many it's help with drugs, others it's mental illness, and still others just need some stability for a bit so they can build themselves back up.

And some can't be helped, nothing will fix them, and they may not even want it. We can't know who they are until we help the rest, and everyone deserves for them not to be freezing to death on the street

Hell fucking yeah!

It is fun explaining to my wife what y'all weirdos are up to lol

It also impacts stuff like willingness to return in issues like this as well. If I feel the country is too unsafe to stay in I'd hate to not be able to vote to change it back

[-] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 9 points 10 hours ago

I bet that papist is only voting how the pope wants him to /s

Probably the only foreign head of state allowed to vote huh

Yeah, I like the exercise of going to the plant floor, the fumes and needing to stick my hands in heavy machinery, not so much

As a trans woman, everyone's disgusting ok

Yeah, and I will say it's definitely better for posting than I expected. I kinda was expecting very little response, and I think that the small community vibes help people feel comfortable replying to OC posts. That said, there are some things it's missing (notably to me at least is a sapphic oriented nudes space). But ultimately yeah it's good and improving, and I do recommend people who've been considering posting there give it a try.

Yeah, people like you are changing it to something more palatable. And I'm seeing increases in different users posting/commenting more often rather than just the power users. Idk if it's crossed the threshold for increasing usability yet, but I'm hopeful for it for the first time since I was new here that it's slowly becoming better.

I figured I might be able to find some answers here. I've been off and on trying to install home assistant after setting up an old desktop with proxmox, but I've never been able to get it running. I've been getting this issue:

[supervisor.docker.interface] Can't install ghcr.io/home-assistant/qemux86-64-homeassistant:2024.10.3: 500 Server Error for http+docker://localhost/v1.47/images/create?tag=2024.10.3&fromImage=ghcr.io%2Fhome-assistant%2Fqemux86-64-homeassistant&platform=linux%2Famd64: Internal Server Error ("Get "https://ghcr.io/v2/": net/http: request canceled while waiting for connection (Client.Timeout exceeded while awaiting headers)")

Attempting to go to ghcr.io/v2/ seperately in browser results in it saying I'm unauthorized

But I’ve been getting this error:

[supervisor.docker.interface] Can't install ghcr.io/home-assistant/generic-x86-64-homeassistant:2024.4.4: 500 Server Error for http+docker://localhost/v1.44/images/create?tag=2024.4.4&fromImage=ghcr.io%2Fhome-assistant%2Fgeneric-x86-64-homeassistant&platform=linux%2Famd64: Internal Server Error ("Get "https://ghcr.io/v2/": net/http: request canceled while waiting for connection (Client.Timeout exceeded while awaiting headers)") [supervisor.homeassistant.core] Error on Home Assistant installation. Retrying in 30sec

I’ve tried changing DNS, but it didn’t help and I seem to get no other helpful results from searching. If anyone has any suggestions I’d appreciate it as this seems to be something my home could benefit from but it’s just not loading beyond the CLI
