Last weeks thread here

Welcome to this week’s casual kōrero thread!

This post will be pinned in this community so you can always find it, and will stay for about a week until replaced by the next one.

It’s for talking about anything that might not justify a full post. For example:

  • Something interesting that happened to you
  • Something humourous that happened to you
  • Something frustrating that happened to you
  • A quick question
  • A request for recommendations
  • Pictures of your pet
  • A picture of a cloud that kind of looks like an elephant
  • Anything else, there are no rules (except the rule)

So how’s it going?

Built a new Guinea pig cage. Its pretty shit I hacked a few things together and used minimal resources. Its huge though its easily big enough for 10 guinea pigs and I only have two. Im trying to grow grass in there but they eat every bit of vegetation that springs up in the cage. Since its summer they're outside all day but in winter they wont be so it can grow then.

here is a picture of one of the pigs chilling under a rock. Yeah her butt fur is due for a trim its just the trimmer is broken.

I got peed on by a guinea pig once.

[–] Fizz 1 points 1 week ago

Yeah they do tend to do that. After a while you can sort of tell when they are about to pee but most of the time you just get peed on which is why I have them on a blanket.

I was talking to another commenter about this, but here is an article about the NZ navy mutiny, for your consideration.

Essentially a strike over pay and conditions, rather than what we would typically have in mind when talking about a mutiny.

[–] liv 2 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Wait what would we normally have in mind? I thought mutinies were almost always about conditions.

[–] Dave 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

What comes to mind is a first mate making the captain walk the plank at cutlass-point and taking over as pirate captain 🏴‍☠️

[–] liv 3 points 1 week ago

When you put it like that... really we shouldn't accept anything less.

I think most people would picture officers being held at gunpoint etc, rather than just walking off base.

[–] liv 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Hmm you're probably right.

The mutiny on the Bounty is probably the most well known example, and they had it all. Tying up the captain, officers forced into a boat at gunpoint and cast off, stealing the ship, kidnapping women, you name it.

That's a lot like how when pirates attack a ship there are always a few confused people picturing parrots and peg legs instead of speedboats and semiautomatics.

It's ok, except for when I need to go through automatic doors

[–] liv 2 points 1 week ago

That's a soulless issue? Damn, that means I don't always have one either.

Huh, there's a news post asking app/frontend developers to start the work to support Lemmy 1.0. We might see Lemmy 1.0 released this year!

Edit: Lemmy post about it here.
