CCP pushing the "official" doctrine that Mandarin is the only Chinese language to NZ, despite the fact that the vast majority of NZ Chinese immigrants speak Cantonese as a primary language. Especially the early ones.

Entirely unsurprising. It's such a dumb line the CCP pushes anyway. From any reasonable stance, the different Chinese languages are distinct languages. There is the same or even less mutual intelligibility between Mandarin and Cantonese than between English and German.

So they shouldn't be allowed to say such a thing? Most countries get to decide what their official language is right?

I am just trying to understand why I am supposed to be outraged and upset that's all. I get it China bad and all that but in this case why is this worthy of my anger and anguish?
