“You know I met the head of Somalia, did you know that?” he told reporters at the Oval Office in September. “And I suggested that maybe he’d like to take her back. He said ‘I don’t want her.’”

Not even assuming the conversation Trump is relating is true. But the fact that he thinks it's totally normal to talk about trading people like playing cards with another country's leader tells you all you need to know about Trump.

Tells you all you need to know about Trump, IF you're capable of sound logical reasoning.

In other words, no big deal because this moves the needle for literally nobody who is still supporting him today.

[-] CosmicTurtle0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 19 points 11 months ago

It's true in the same way that he had a chat with the president of Puerto Rico.

[-] Knock_Knock_Lemmy_In@lemmy.world 5 points 11 months ago

Do you think Trump has an inner monologue?

[-] anomnom@sh.itjust.works 1 points 11 months ago

Yeah, but it’s just saying “me me me me me me…”

[-] mumblerfish@lemmy.world 5 points 11 months ago

If it is true for Trump, I'm not sure, but it is true for the Swedish government. The Swedish government is straight up paying the Somali government, like their salaries, to have them take somali-origin deportees.

[-] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 4 points 11 months ago

Doesn't sound like Trump. Not enough "sir" and "tears in his eyes."

[-] slothrop@lemmy.ca 109 points 11 months ago

“I have no worry, I don’t know how they’d take away my citizenship and like deport me,” she said on The Dean Obeidallah Show. “But I don’t even know like why that’s such a scary threat. Like I’m not the 8-year-old who escaped war anymore. I’m grown, my kids are grown. Like I could go live wherever I want if I wanted to. It’s a weird thing to wake up every single day to bring that into every single conversation, ‘we’re gonna deport Ilhan.’”

Lol literally "go back to Africa"

[-] SatansMaggotyCumFart@piefed.world 43 points 11 months ago

Musk is the only person who this should be said to.

[-] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 6 points 11 months ago

Why do you hate Africa?

[-] Formfiller@lemmy.world 5 points 11 months ago

And Peter theil

[-] BigMacHole@sopuli.xyz 53 points 11 months ago

Go BACK to Where you ILLEGALLY CAME FROM Before you put even MORE Americans out of Work!

Of COURSE I'm talking about Ilhan Omar and NOT South African Elon Musk who's here ~~ILLEGALLY~~ RICH!

[-] Formfiller@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago

And Peter theil

[-] liuther9@lemmy.world 42 points 11 months ago

Why dont Trump go back to Germany then?

[-] SkunkWorkz@lemmy.world 39 points 11 months ago

Trump always acts like his family was on the Mayflower. He’s a second gen American and all his wives are foreign born. He and his entire family are just as much of a foreigner as Omar.

[-] TheMinister@sh.itjust.works 15 points 11 months ago

Aaaand the main difference is….

drumroll

[-] TheRealLinga@sh.itjust.works 10 points 11 months ago

Whhhiiiitttteee

[-] BigPotato@lemmy.world 5 points 11 months ago

My family was on the Mayflower but if Ireland would like to take me back on account of the generational sin and all that I'd be happy to get on the plane.

[-] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 3 points 11 months ago

Some of my ancestors came to what's now the US over a century before the Mayflower (they were conquistadors). It's not an achievement and says nothing about how American I am.

Trump's unamerican not because of his ancestry, but because of his values and behavior.

[-] Soup@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago

No, but they raise a point that if conservatives care so much about immigrants and ancestry then there is hypocrisy here. Obviously, because conservatism doesn’t function without it, but it’s still a direct response to something being screamed about.

[-] Treczoks@lemmy.world 14 points 11 months ago

No thanks, we don't want him back. Just drop him off the plane over the Atlantic if you must.

[-] madcaesar@lemmy.world 3 points 11 months ago

Instead you guys unleash Peter Thiel on the world... Wtf is up with Germany and unleashing generational assholes unto the world?

[-] Nalivai@lemmy.world 3 points 11 months ago

Thiel was moved out of Germany when he was like 4. Either we admit that nurture is more important than the country of birth, or Hitler doesn't count as German

[-] Treczoks@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago

If you happen to lose him on the flight back to Germany, I won't complain.

[-] floofloof@lemmy.ca 30 points 11 months ago

“She should go back!”

Trump is old and so are his racist slogans.

[-] myfunnyaccountname@lemmy.zip 30 points 11 months ago

Says the guy that the son of an immigrant and married one as well

[-] Plurrbear@lemmy.world 16 points 11 months ago

And generations of war dodging plus his family came here illegally…

[-] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 3 points 11 months ago

Yeah, but they're white, so they don't count.

[-] Formfiller@lemmy.world 13 points 11 months ago

Trump needs to go back to loompa land

[-] PattyMcB@lemmy.world 13 points 11 months ago

Trump should fuck off to Somalia

[-] D_C@sh.itjust.works 11 points 11 months ago

The Somalis have enough issues. I suggest the orange paedo goes on a nice rocket ride to the sun, specifically the very middle of it.

[-] RisingSwell@lemmy.dbzer0.com 11 points 11 months ago

It costs less to throw him out of the solar system than it does to throw him into the sun, no need to waste energy

[-] Empricorn@feddit.nl 11 points 11 months ago

What disgusting racism, both in his conduct, and supporters repeating and amplifying his comments. Republicans truly are the worst.

Classy as always I see.

[-] SpankyDoodle@eviltoast.org 5 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

I’d like to tell Trump the same. He’s a traitor.
