Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

The guy who voted for not extending healthcare subsidies to the most desperate Americans?

Hope it hurt.

Socialist, government-funded health care*

[–] Catoblepas@piefed.blahaj.zone 27 points 9 months ago

Unfortunately it was on his face, so his thick fucking skull broke his fall.

[–] cogitase@lemmy.dbzer0.com 153 points 9 months ago (3 children)

It would be of great scientific value if we could study how Fetterman shifts further rightward with incremental increases in brain damage.

The CTE to right wing pipeline

[–] Zahille7@lemmy.world 33 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Maybe that's a reason why football is so popular

Maybe he's operating on Fred Flintstone rules and this time he'll come around thinking he's a racecar driver instead.

Maybe if we hit him hard enough he’ll loop back around, like Gandhi in that civ game but reversed.

[–] Lucky_777@lemmy.world 113 points 9 months ago (7 children)

Had a friend that got blasted with a glass beer bottle. Brian damage and long stay in the hospital but he lived.

When he came back, he was 100% a different person. Abandoned his family, started talking to overseas women, gambling, and many other self destructive activities.

Before? Dude was a stand up guy. Worked hard and was a great family man. Sad that Fettermen basically suffered the same fate, but he needs to go.

I do find it somewhat funny that after suffering severe brain damage, Republican ideals became appealing to him. It says a lot about the rest of the group.

[–] ganryuu@lemmy.ca 13 points 9 months ago (2 children)

To follow up on this, I never heard about someone switching to leftist ideals after brain damage, always to the right.

Like, smashed over the head with a beer bottle? Holy fuck. They really should not have started such a cliché for that in bar fights in movies, I feel like some people think it'll break like the movies and you'll just "hurt the guy a little" not fucking kill them, or give them permanent brain damage.

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 17 points 9 months ago (3 children)

I think it just comes naturally for people to use things shaped like a club to hit people when they're so inclined.

I remember a guy that always did stupid shit when he was drunk. One of his "party tricks" was to bite off pieces of beer glasses. One night he emptied a bottle of beer and just smashed it over his head, probably expecting it to shatter. It made a pretty anti climactic bonk sound and it knocked him out cold, hitting a barstool on the way down.

[–] Lucky_777@lemmy.world 11 points 9 months ago

Right. This happened to him in the bathroom and the guy was looking to steal his wallet. Sad thing was, my friend didn't even press charges. Just so was fucked up. He didn't even care. His family was devastated. Amazing what some people will do and the outcomes they create.

If only Fetterman had an excuse like that. He was always a shit person. Just less shit than Mehmet Oz.

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 15 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago) (1 children)

That sounds like one of the worst things I can imagine, becoming a terrible person and actively making other peoples' lives worse. It's really sad to know that your friend would have been horrified of what he became.

Maybe he’ll wake up as a democrat this time

[–] chronicledmonocle@lemmy.world 42 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Sadly the more brain damage you have, the more likely you are to be a Republicunt.

Hard to care about him. He gets one close call with death and becomes a worse person. Whereas most people who experience something like that become a better person.

At least he doesn't have to worry about his healthcare premiums

[–] AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world 18 points 9 months ago (1 children)

He already voted to reopen the government while supporting a plan to fuck over the average citizen. Why should we care about this fascist fuck?
