For films Jerry Springer the opera and Repo! The genetic opera are both good. In TV there was Kombat Opera. But for actual stage operas I've no idea

Stories told by song in English are generally either "rock operas" or "musicals".

There are some songs in musicals that are sung in the operatic style, "the ballad of Jane doe" from Ride the Cyclone comes to mind
