"Show me someone who makes no mistakes and I'll show you someone who isn't working"

No one's life is as perfect as it seems. They have the same problems as you, you just don't see it.

That perfect picture from your Facebook friend showing their children smiling and happy on Christmas day was preceded by 2 hours of yelling and telling the kids "shut up and smile for the picture or you won't get to open any presents".

Sometimes a quiet Christmas with unruly children is actually better than the "perfect" Christmas your friends seem yo be having.

"You can't live your life being afraid. Sometimes you have to do it scared and that's how you make your life better. Don't be like me and wait until your 40s to try anything. Or you'll be like me, starting at death and wishing you had done it sooner."

-My uncle a week before cancer took him

"Despite what they tell you, it's never selfish to love yourself, it's never selfish to put yourself first. It's only selfish when you put your wants over other peoples needs and even then, there's exceptions to the rules."

-A Friend who knew I was struggling to be better for myself

You're enough.

You're the only person who can pave the path that you're on. It's never too late to pave a better one.

I’ll get the phrasing wrong, but:

Wanting to love yourself is already the beginning, because from where does the desire flow?

I made you a sandwich, honey.

No one knows what they are doing.

Honestly, someone once told me "f★★★ 'em. They're a bunch of p★★★ scared of you living but too chickens★★★ to kill you themselves." And that made me really stop and think for a time. My spite for a time became my motivation.

the results of my DBT values assessment were spite, chaos, and general beneficence.

"Do I really want to add to the aggression in the world?" - Pema Chodron. Has had a big impact on me.
