Community Rules

You must post before you leave

Be nice. Assume others have good intent (within reason).

Block or ignore posts, comments, and users that irritate you in some way rather than engaging. Report if they are actually breaking community rules.

Use content warnings and/or mark as NSFW when appropriate. Most posts with content warnings likely need to be marked NSFW.

Most 196 posts are memes, shitposts, cute images, or even just recent things that happened, etc. There is no real theme, but try to avoid posts that are very inflammatory, offensive, very low quality, or very "off topic".

Bigotry is not allowed, this includes (but is not limited to): Homophobia, Transphobia, Racism, Sexism, Abelism, Classism, or discrimination based on things like Ethnicity, Nationality, Language, or Religion.

Avoid shilling for corporations, posting advertisements, or promoting exploitation of workers.

Proselytization, support, or defense of authoritarianism is not welcome. This includes but is not limited to: imperialism, nationalism, genocide denial, ethnic or racial supremacy, fascism, Nazism, Marxism-Leninism, Maoism, etc.

Avoid AI generated content.

Avoid misinformation.

Avoid incomprehensible posts.

No threats or personal attacks.

Moderator Guidelines

Moderator Guidelines

  • Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
  • Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
  • When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
  • Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
  • Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
  • Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
  • Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
  • Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
  • Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
  • Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
  • Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
  • Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
  • First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
  • Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
  • No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
  • Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
  • Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.

EDIT: Oops, didn’t realize this was AI when I posted it! Sorry about that!

In PieFed the 'AI generated' checkbox is in 'More options' when editing/creating a post.

Thanks for letting me know! I’m almost always using Voyager on mobile, and Piefed support is still experimental, I think. At least, I’m not sure where I’d find that in the app when editing a post. Hopefully it’ll be included in a future release!

Awh man ☹️ I had no clue, that sucks

[–] Hubi@feddit.org 30 points 10 hours ago (2 children)

No worries, it really gets hard to tell sometimes. I immediately get suspicious with photos of people wearing shirts like this because it's usually just a guerilla ad for some cheap web shop.

thx for adding this trick to my anti-generative-ai arsenal

[–] compostgoblin@piefed.blahaj.zone 7 points 10 hours ago

Oh, that’s a good point. I hadn’t even thought of that. Now I know to look out for it though, thanks!

Now that you know, could you please add "(AI generated)" to the title? or remove the post?

[–] compostgoblin@piefed.blahaj.zone 5 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

No problem, I just added an edit note in the post

My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined.

[–] Ypsilenna@lemmy.zip 5 points 7 hours ago

I'm so disappointed now. The patterns is cool, but I wish the picture were real :/

[–] protist@retrofed.com 1 points 5 hours ago

The graphic is way too straight and appears superimposed on the shirt. None of the shirt wrinkles affect the graphic at all

[–] judgyweevil@feddit.it 14 points 10 hours ago

The picture of the shirt is (ironically) too straight, outside of perspective rules. The writings on the books at the bottom are too gibberish

This another one of those "AI detector tools" that some teachers try to use for writing, or does this actually scan metadata or a database for its entries?

[–] Hubi@feddit.org 20 points 10 hours ago* (last edited 10 hours ago)

This specific tool looks for the SynthID watermark that is embedded in images when they are generated.

Those "AI detection" tools are also AI slop tools (unless it's looking for specific watermarks that some AI companies are adding). I would need to see the details before I take this as true.

Just try it for yourself, the image has a embedded SynthID watermark.

[–] chickenf622@sh.itjust.works 11 points 10 hours ago

Perfect thank you for giving more details. I hate that I have to question everything I see now cause of AI.

[–] Mouselemming@sh.itjust.works 24 points 9 hours ago (2 children)

Okay so the image is AI slop. But raise hands, who here would like to have a T-shirt or sign that was some version of this slogan? I'm pretty sure some human came up with the words for the prompt.

[–] alapakala@quokk.au 1 points 8 minutes ago

😈 let’s paint some

[–] boonhet@sopuli.xyz 8 points 8 hours ago

Well it's available at a bunch of places in a bunch of variations, not sure if those shirts came out before or after the image... and if they have the same author or not

There are parts of the Bible I like and there are parts I don't like!
