I don't know why but this reads with the cadence of Farnsworth from Futurama to me.

[-] Tar_alcaran@sh.itjust.works 146 points 4 days ago

Now, some say I could just keep it inside my house, but really it broke containment when I decided to leave it on bank-robbing-mode and left the house for a week.

[-] thesdev@feddit.org 40 points 4 days ago

Yes I did ask it to please please stay inside. No I didn't lock the door, why do you ask?

[-] lambalicious@lemmy.sdf.org 71 points 4 days ago

Now do the same but with "invented a child bombing machine" or "rape machine", for the people who are annoyingly dense and tone-deaf.

[-] Bustedknuckles@lemmy.world 18 points 4 days ago

Wrong direction, I'm afraid. Entirely AI-directed suicide drones are a thing to avoid jamming and I'm certain they don't check for nearby children

[-] bedwyr@piefed.ca 10 points 4 days ago

Israel uses fully autonomous killbots that use llm's and computers to make targeting decisions. Supposedly a person is in the loop, but I would be shocked if they haen't systematically testing them on all full auto.

[-] loutr@sh.itjust.works 9 points 4 days ago

Why would they bother keeping a human in the loop? Once it's over Palestinian territory there are no wrong targets anyway, let the clanker do its thing and tune it for maximum destruction afterwards.

and I’m certain they don’t check for nearby children

What??? Why wouldn't they check for nearby children? Israel loves two things: doing genocides and killing children. How else are they going to keep the score? Gotta make the number go up!

[-] defaultusername@lemmy.dbzer0.com 10 points 4 days ago

Those kinds of people won't care unless you specify that it specifically bombs white children or rapes white people (actually, they probably won't care about the rape either).

Here's the thing... AI is just a convenient layer of obfuscation. Without the layer, those in power would just do it anyway and still rarely be held accountable.

While I have mostly negative feelings toward AI and would rather remove any potential layers of obfuscation so that the public can better see the reality firnwhat it is, the powerful need to be held to account directly. ~~Targeting AI for this kind of thing is just a distraction~~ Putting the focus on AI alone is what they'd want.

[-] Nalivai@lemmy.world 15 points 4 days ago

It's true for every type of societal issue. Let's just assume that for every problem, number one thing that we need to do is ~~eat the rich~~ hold the powerful accountable. But while we figure out how to do that, let's at least not ignore the actual smaller problem that we're dealing with.
A house is on fire because of poor regulations and corruption, poor regulations and corruption needs to be dealt with for sure. A house is on fire though, so it's also important to deal with.

I really want to crosspost this to c/fuckcars

[-] FreddiesLantern@leminal.space 2 points 2 days ago

Go right ahead! Spread the word of the brick!

[-] Mrkawfee@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago

Can I self host the brick?

[-] FreddiesLantern@leminal.space 3 points 3 days ago

Only if you properly sandbox it. Dare I say, cement it even. Otherwise it'll brick your device.

[-] _stranger_@lemmy.world 8 points 4 days ago

what is going on with those capital E's.

[-] FreddiesLantern@leminal.space 16 points 4 days ago

I tried my best at making ai slop manually... back to the prompting board I guess.

[-] TheRealLinga@sh.itjust.works 5 points 4 days ago

Nah it's awesome!!!

By the way, we also sell robot bank guards. Best way of stopping bank robbing robots. Would you like to buy some?

[-] BagOfHeavyStones@piefed.social 22 points 4 days ago

I was thinking today while driving my 30 year old car to town, what would happen if I somehow tricked an AI to use its spare capacity to mine crypto, and it somehow became a worm that all AI data centres picked up, resulting in me getting a nice wallet. Who is committing the crime? Who is losing for me winning?

Would it be like blaming the blue box because it gave me the free phone calls?

[-] Aqivex@fedinsfw.app 10 points 4 days ago

🤔

"Who is committing the crime?"

You, if they can pin some bullshit on you, which they will try no matter how much a stretch the charge.

And it'll be very hard to get it to stick, one of the few things--Wait.

I read OpenAI's bullshit technical paper on their "incident". I think I realized the easiest vector.

Their internal package repository systems.

During testing they both load them up with whatever the fuck they think will help what they're testing but they also let the models freely iterate with whatever else is there.

How do they determine what goes there?

Well.

Every slop purveyor starts or arrives very early on at the same conclusion; the marketing they got was over hyped and they need to attempt to build a better mousetrap.

The models are better than average for this task over others, because that is also what the AI company is doing all the time, to put it simply.

And the AI company has no issues with copying the repos of the sloppers. They literally just use their snoop ability to grab whatever "improvements" people using their platform's harness "develop".

So. If you were to make a particularly good at "tokenmaxing" approach targeting one of their platforms, just catnip fill it with all of the other Holy Grails these chuds are always chasing, and it gets popular enough, it just might make its way to those internal testing repos tainted code and all, if it's extremely subtle enough...

🤔 Do I wanna risk jail yet?

[-] lavember@programming.dev 6 points 4 days ago

continue pls this is better than mr robot

[-] Aqivex@fedinsfw.app 6 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

Cannot. I'm Impatient type. I'll leave the theory to posterity. There...there might be praxis here.

SIR! I would like to buy one thousand robots.

I would like to rent the robots when you're not using them.

[-] AlteredEgo@lemmy.ml 5 points 3 days ago

They invented a machine that preaches hate.

All hail the hate preaching machine!

We are just cogs in your greatness!

[-] FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world 19 points 4 days ago

The lack of any meaningful accountability for any of this is frustrating.

I fully believe Donald met with all of these bastards behind closed doors and told them they have free reign to do whatever the fuck they want as long as he's president.

[-] bedwyr@piefed.ca 15 points 4 days ago

Make no mistake, prez had his fixers work out protection payments through layers of shell comanies leading to his personal control.

It really is like that.

So, like an popular AI stalking platform recently used heavily by authoritarians across the US.

[-] DandomRude@lemmy.world 13 points 4 days ago

You should also mention that the robot helps others with bank robberies, and that they can even choose its outfit—which could make the robot look really cool—but that the lion's share of the loot still goes to you.

[-] lechekaflan@lemmy.world 8 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

"Inevitable" That's what my sister-in-law said, believing AI is "nothing to be afraid of".

The samey Youtube thumbnails and announcement notices on Facebook are fucking annoying, to begin with. It does not help that government and politicians are all gung-ho for slop... because profits.

[-] TrickDacy@lemmy.world 8 points 4 days ago

Yeah it's really getting to me how people are acting like what's happening with AI is the only way it can happen.

[-] AviAdi@lemmy.world 8 points 4 days ago

Ah, but you don't understand the politicians also get a cut so this is all fine

[-] jlow@slrpnk.net 5 points 4 days ago

Yeah, feed that right into the slop machine (posting on Threads).

[-] emeralddawn45@lemmy.dbzer0.com 8 points 3 days ago

I've got news for you, Lemmy is not some super obscure underground platform. Yeah it's a bit too convoluted for a lot of super casual social media users, which helps keep the content well-curated, but it's publicly indexed and easily findable and definitely also being crawled for AI training.
