"But shit I was pretty sure this truck was male!" - anonymous Transformer fan from Texas

[-] some_kind_of_guy@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

We all know they'll keep jorkin' to it anyway

[-] Redditmodstouchgrass@lemmy.zip 4 points 1 day ago

"It had truck nuts and everything!"

Sure, just stick a fleshlight up the exhaust

[-] kyoko916@lemmy.blahaj.zone 17 points 1 day ago

The "trans propaganda" remembers me whenever a background gay character was "gay agenda" or whatever, the same moral panicking just shifting focus but same bs overall

[-] BreadOven@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

But your pronouns can be they/them even if you're not trans.

[-] FE80@lemmy.world 15 points 1 day ago

Culture war is a conflict where the prize is nothing.

[-] RIPandTERROR@sh.itjust.works 28 points 1 day ago

Depends on what fucking side you're on. If you're on the side defending your rights the prize is fucking everything.

[-] DaGreenGobbo@feddit.uk 4 points 1 day ago

No prize. Only jeopardy.

[-] hyperion626@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

What right is being defended in this image?

[-] HumanOnEarth@lemmy.ca 128 points 2 days ago

"Transformers is teaching children about acceptance."

MAGA: Burn it all down.

"The president is a literally criminally charged sexual predator with an undeniable and for some reason heavily secretive relationship with Jeffrey Epstein, a child sex trafficker."

MAGA: shrugs

Acceptance leads to social equality and then where would the Epsteins be? Think of the billionaires!!

[-] SkunkWorkz@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago

Ian Miles Cheong is also just a grifter. He lives in Malaysia and isn’t even a US citizen.

[-] LodeMike@lemmy.today 19 points 1 day ago

Yeah let me check the "gender" this alien had at "birth".

[-] Tar_alcaran@sh.itjust.works 8 points 1 day ago

The robot was assigned-protoform-at-construction.

Stop giving Nazis attention.

Boomers that are serious fans of the series know Transformers had the entire squad of queer and genders characters, all the way since first comic.
Literally Orion Pax & Megatron were they first gay couple. Until blatantly elections got in the way. Megatron is right, oppressors need to be challenged at every step.
3 questions to powerful institutions by Megatron — 2005 IDW continuity The Transformers 2011 Issue #23 Chaos Theory Part 2漫画Wiki

Point taken; but on the other hand, we can't ignore them to death, can we? Like you said, oppressors need to be challenged at every step. I think there's a difference between clapping back at some chud's "gotcha" moment and allowing them into a space for debate.

[-] alapakala@quokk.au 15 points 2 days ago

The video addresses this directly.
Challenging oppression means going out of our comfort, organizing, and directly acting. The Malaysian is already wanted in Malaysia, Malaysian have that challenged.

Now, when is the Twitter Takedown?
If we are to apply the thesis in Transformers & ThoughtSlime, X Corp Headquarters needs some renovations.

RIP PETER CULLEN

[-] Swedneck@discuss.tchncs.de 8 points 1 day ago

surely "cisformer" is just another word for trans?

I think a cisformer would be a car that transforms into a different car.

[-] 5318008@lemmy.ml 8 points 1 day ago

That seems to be a transformation, but of a lesser degree.

A cisformer should be a car that distinctly retains its form as a car. It would be very difficult to change the form of such a car, meaning it would not have much scrap value.

[-] isleepinahammock@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

I got to say, a cisformer would be pretty convenient to own. It spends most of its time as a small fuel efficient sedan. But when it cisforms, its now a pickup truck capable of hauling a heavy load or towing a large trailer. That would be amazing!

If anyone objects to me owning a sentient being, interpret the ownership as a sub/dom thing.

[-] nednobbins@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 day ago

That would be the Mercury Mistress.

Obviously NSFW. Pardon the reddit link. I wasn't able to find a better one.

[-] FatVegan@leminal.space 8 points 1 day ago

Are they gonna americanize transformers like they did bluey? Cisformers?

[-] MML@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 day ago

It's now called whitey?

[-] Redditmodstouchgrass@lemmy.zip 28 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Hasn't seen this one yet. The bots seem a bit undertextured compared to the humans from the stills ive seen. Not a fan of that style.

Honestly it would make more sense if they all went by neutral pronouns. Kinda odd that a species with, as far as I've seen, a very skewed gender ratio would have any concept of male/female.

"Female!" -Shockwave

[-] WizardofFrobozz@lemmy.ca 5 points 1 day ago

Why hasn’t anyone put this guy down yet?

[-] alapakala@quokk.au 1 points 1 day ago

Malaysia corruption ╮(︶▽︶)╭

[-] WizardofFrobozz@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 day ago

Sounds like a relatively easy place to get something like that accomplished, then.

[-] WorldsDumbestMan@lemmy.today 1 points 1 day ago

Well, I would say not to go out of their way to provoke them, but I latelly feel no empathy for those folks.

Get it in their faces! Say you are making their kids trans.

We need to assert our dominance here!

[-] Wobble@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 day ago

If I were trans then I would call myself They. No excuse!

Moderator Guidelines

  • Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
  • Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
  • When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
  • Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
  • Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
  • Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
  • Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
  • Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
  • Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
  • Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
  • Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
  • Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
  • First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
  • Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
  • No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
  • Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
  • Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.
