I don't have Twitter so I can't confirm, but it looks like the mob had determined this was an AI fake. The one time I was considering using xcancel, it's already gone lol

As a Japanese guy, I can attest that the Japanese is unnatural and a quick search does show that the pricing is wrong. Also Saikachi would be an incredibly rare last name (all different ways of writing the kanji ads up to about 1'000 individuals in all of Japan), so it shouldn't be difficult to find her in a quick online search but you can't find anything about her.

Right? Why do they even make fake ones like these? It messes with history. I mean, this particular example might not be a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but if there were thousands of these made and a history in the future wanted to make a documentation about 90s gaming advertisements, they'd have to sift through a bunch of fakes.

back in the day forging some historical material used to be a research exercise for history students. we had that kind of thing for the press and we had to study how things are written (that was the whole point) and then replicate it using these insights - barely anyone ever got a good grade for these things because it is way harder to do than it seems like - even something from 10 years ago linguistically is another world and something form 1920s or 1930s (or earlier) is straight up parallel universe.

Would be nice if you changed the title to reflect the forgery.

What an amazing gif. I remember watching this as a kid (the cartoon, not the gif) and thinking it was funny. Even better now.

My first experience with it was through the recreation in The Mask movie with Jim Carrey. I only saw the cartoon later in life and then understood the reference.

This is my favorite gif to send to my gf when she sends me a spicy pic. Unsurprisingly, it shows up if you search for "wolf whistle" :)

Yes. It didn't set the country on fire but they were decent.

Decent smooth to have a plethora of games that north America wouldn't see since localization costs weren't worth it

Idk who Momoko Saikachi is but I'd like to be her friend. Maybe I can help her with an Arch install, I bet she loves Linux too
