Scientists are the ones who figured out that dinosaurs had feathers. Whenever science is proven wrong, it’s with more/better science.
They even know the colouration of a bunch of them, like this Sinosauropteryx:

One of the reasons I would love to travel to the future is to see all the ways that people and science are confidently incorrect about depictions of dinosaurs now, and how they're depicted like 300 years in the future. Even within my lifetime, we've gone from slow, fat lizard turds to something realistic like this lil' guy. Amazing stuff.
You might also get to see incorrect depictions of animals from our time that are extinct in the future, depending on how much information is lost between now and then.
Travelling to the (far) past would give you certainty though.
Sure, but I might also become a snack.
yeah, maybe: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dkcgQQSgznU
I share your sentiment but I'd rather go back and see for myself. The future is completely unknown, who knows if you'd land right on the front line in WWIII. At least in the past I have a vague idea of what parts of time to avoid landing in.
You could say the same for the past, we don't know when dinosaur World War 2 was, perhaps you'll meet dinosaur Elon Musk and have to talk to him, it's a hell of a risk.
I'm glad it was so happy when it died. Doing itsy little walk, my cat does that when he has successfully captured the elusive ball of foil.
This kind of “scientists are so stupid” mindset is so weird
No. Not weird. Dangerous. Only people in the world, who get to hold a “told ya so” sign, while civilisation and humanity burns, out of their own hubris
Science success story:
Aboriginal religions generally hold that long ago in the Dreaming times, the world was cold, there was less water, and the coast was further away. You used to be able to walk to many of the islands around the Australian coast, because there were land bridges.
White people generally assumed these stories were mythological fiction, because white people are often racist and intolerant. However, science eventually figured out that 10,000 years ago, there was an ice age. The polar ice caps were bigger, and the ocean was shallower. Those land bridges were found under the modern ocean through satellite imaging. Aboriginal religions were right, and science proved that these religious histories had been preserved and kept accurate for 10,000 years!
Science wins again!
But first somebody had to make a movie with the wrong data, making the whole field cool enough to get funding to found out they were wrong.
While true about the proto feathers dinosaurs had, the mis id of their species as reptiles lives on to this day. Half the population doesn't even know they are from birds, and were warm blooded.
Eh? Dinosaurs are reptiles in any system of classification I know of.
I'm not quite sure what you're getting at but it sounds like you're referring to the fact that, cladistically, birds are dinosaurs. But there were non-bird dinosaurs, and what this all means for the clades is just that all birds are reptiles.
Of course normally we are not speaking cladistically. In that context, birds are not dinosaurs, but dinosaurs are still reptiles, and reptiles excludes birds.
we used to have bunnies and ducks and one time we were cleaning up the bunny place and transferred rabbits to a nearby coop. The ducks gathered around it and started quacking at bunnies in this bully manner the ducks do - and then one of the ducks stuck their head into the coop and mama bunny fucked up this motherfucker and turned the coop upside down in the process. that duck got the scarface nickname as a result.
Ducks are rapist assholes with monstrous genitals.
for the unaware, look it up, i dare you
they are also incredibly bothersome to look after in general. i'd take chicken or geese all day.
Check out the coffee table book, All Yesterdays. It's half reinterpretations of known fossils, half artist renderings of contemporary animals based only on their skeletons. We're obviously misinterpreting a lot of creatures going just off their skeletons and we'll never know how they really appeared.
As I recall, this is from the skeleton of a contemporary species of monkey, as an example:

The swan is one of my favourites.

Then when you're done, check out All Tomorrows to really just cement the nightmare fuel.

Shaved rabbit:

I'm not old enough to see naked bunnies 🫢
Look at those lil ‘staches! That’s the best thing I’ve seen all day
It's
"What * * like" (What it looks like)
OR
"How * *" (How it looks)
It's never
"How * * like"
How is this so fucking hard to get right.
Look, all I'm saying is we have no proof that the dinosaurs didn't drive cars.
That's the most foul, cruel, and bad-tempered rodent you ever set eyes on! He'll do you up a treat, mate.
Run away. Run away.
Oh my god wait does this mean T-Rex was a cutie-wootie-rootie-patootie? 🥹
technically dinosaurs are giant chicken
Maybe like our murder kittens (Like tiger or lion), maybe... It's still probably the largest predator on land in history though...
zero percent fat. Do you even lift, bunny?
Their spines are fascinating. They're designed to store a lot of potential energy and release it in short bursts.
Rabbits can fuckin' move, and the biomechanics behind why is absolutely enthralling.
If you pick them up incorrectly they can fracture their own spine with those kicks
Yet they're very fragile (the spine) sadly. Same with Guinea pigs.
Just in case though... let's prepare the holy hand granade... juuuuust in case...
I am convinced that dinosaurs looked completely different than is being guessed with their skeletons.
Look, lizards are lizards. They had other priorities than looking cute back then. Still have.
This has always been the one thing that has always bug me with the creation of dinosaurs in book, tv, movies etc. If you look at the skulls of hippos or elephants, they look far different than the actual living animal.
They don’t just look at the bone structure.
Scientifically accurate Watership Down
cuuuuuutie
Artist/authors John Conway and C. M. Kosemen have a book called All Yesterdays about this subject.
I mean hares basically look like the sketch (plus ears)
Honestly not that far off. It's like a wet bunny without the ears.
