In 2024, the supposed progressives insisted they had to run as conservatives or they wouldn't have a chance to win. The Republicans, though they were lying, ran on affordability and won a landslide, and they've since used their majorities at every level of government to make life more expensive.
And all the Dems are doing about it is sternly-worded letters, while doing their best to kill the candidacy of any Democrat who is actually committed to affordability, whether smearing them as an Islamic extremist, a Communist, leveling a weaponized (and evidence-free) SA allegation, or bringing up a tweet from 2012 or something.

The point of the article is that gas station signs were designed with the assumption that the signs would need to be replaced long before we got close to having a price near $10 a gallon. It's an example of how insane the cost is now. That's it. I think it's an interesting tidbit. Nothing to be excited about. But not something to be bothered by.
