I'm trying to woo cool DT users over here. Hey l3ntil.
There are dozens of us!
from r****t? ..lol
Shhh we don't say that word 'round these parts ma'am
My job provider did something and got me an interview for tomorrow close-ish by, warehouse pick packer.
I'm just happy to have an interview, and this job can really help me with the rent increase starting this month.
Edit: thank you for the kind messages! Watch me slay tomorrow 💅✨
Go for it. The love of money may be the root of all evil, but not having enough of the stuff makes a lot of things seem a lot worse than they actually are. Pick packing is not fun, but could be a stepping stone to better things.
Exactly! I'm not even upset if I stay a while (if they even pick me), I'll just be happy to be in a better position than I am right now. We gotta be grateful for the small things :)
💪🏼
Good luck! The main job of warehouses is to get the right stock, in the right quantity, into the right boxes/pallets, and ship it to the right address. So in the interview emphasise things like you have good attention to detail, and are accurate with work given to you, you will always ask rather than assume if you can’t find what you need etc. Also mention that you can get along with all kinds of people. Warehouse demographics are a melting pot of cultures and walks of life.
Thank you for the advice! I have those transferable skills, I'll try to emphasise them :3 I really appreciate this!
Go kill it girl.
I got a big bag of creatine in Springy if you need some.
Loooooooool I'll hit you up if I need it 😂
Get it, girl!
And uhh, if you need fake references I'm happy to make something up. I've worked in a few warehouses. on time, turns up, doesn't complain. When asked for a fault I usually say they eat meat which no interviewer wants to touch for a simple job reference.
Hahah loool you're awesome man, if I need a reference I'll let you know! Much appreciated 💜
🤞 You got this :)
My last pick packer job co-worker gave me a giant bag of mushies he picked and all the things, everything really looked quite nice for a while there.
Oooo free mushies!? #winning
🤞
So the homeless guy is at the train station again. This time I spoke to him. Introduced myself as the neighbour, reassured him he is welcome to water, he needs water. Thanked him for watering my plants. Then asked if he needed help, told him about the facilities at the beach, asked if he had family. Offered money. He rejected all help. I told him that we are all part of society and that means caring and accepting help if needed. I can't help someone if they don't want help.
He has family , something is up if he doesn't want them.
he looked so rough, thin, unkempt, full of cuts and bruises, and I think he had pneumonia.
but I think it made him feel a bit better to be treated kindly and with respect
I've know a few homesless guys and some of them are straight up unable to function as a regular member of society. Lovely people with good hearts but cannot handle a regular day to day life. Kind of you to reach out to him.
we used to have a society where there was a place for people who couldn't cope and village life was simpler too
Amen to that
I just found out that an old friend who went homeless died recently at 41. I knew him when he was about 23. Great welder. Tried to sleep with me a few times which was kinda flattering, he was a gentleman about it. RIP Benny.
Someone made me hash cupcakes 😂
mental health, feeling sorry for myself
I've been denying that I've feeling crap for months. I have a lot to be thankful for, but there has just been this naggling feeling that something isn't right.
I haven't seen my psych since last year because it's expensive and all that's really happened is that they have told me to do this self-compassion workbook that I keep putting off.
Things are going well for the most part. I'm almost done with uni after what feels like an eternity, I have a supportive family and partner. But I also have a crippling anxiety problem, can barely take care of myself, not much social contact beyond my boardgames group and my friends on the other side of the world, no job lined up for next year, lots of doubt about my future and uncertainty about if I'm actually capable of doing this career.
All I can do is try. Resilience.
You can feel like crap while still acknowledging what you have - both things can be true. Since you know what your psych would suggest, do you think the workbook would help?
Just keep trying, every day. Your self awareness is awesome, you are capable, you can do this.
I think it will. Thank you :)
🫂
It’s ok. Life has ups and downs. Give yourself a high five for showing up even though you have difficulties. You are winning. If the career works out for long time or only a short time, it’s fine. It’s a life experience. Most people change several careers in their lives. Hopefully the psych advice helps things. If you can find a good GP sometimes they can be helpful in anxiety treatments too.
Thank you :)
My heart hurts.
I’m not angry. I was never angry. I’m just…so sad. I wish I had understood.
This whole time I’ve been terrified of making a mistake and locking myself into a mortgage on an apartment that wasn’t the right one - I intended for this to be my home for the rest of my life, or at least for the next twenty years. I was so stressed about the possibility of picking wrong, and turns out I made a huge mistake right from the first because I hadn’t understood the nature of the agreement or hence the search.
I don’t know exactly what would be different if I HAD understood, but I’d have set my hopes somewhere different and not be grieving them now
My personal view is that some rage is entirely justified in this situation. My view only, but I think you were misled, possibly accidentally, but still misled. I also think that your family suffered a rush of blood to their collective heads when the process started, and their expectations altered in consequence as they realised all the various possibilities available. But imo they are primarily thinking of their own needs/wants, and I think yours got lost along the way.
Now, however, you are in receipt of much more accurate information and can go forward armed with that.
I do think that your family needs to consider whether or not they actually need to buy a dedicated apartment for their own use. One that has nothing to do with you and which fits their needs perfectly. You can even help them search for it. You can still offer hospitality as and when required if that suits you, but if they are going to be that picky about the space they need then they need to understand the consequences and costs - to you as well as them.
Your needs come first here. After all, you are going to be living in the space full time and your needs should be the priority imo.
This might be a bit cheeky, but you could ask if they will let you have a locked room, for your own exclusive use, at their house in Mornington. Because I bet they will refuse because 'it's their house'. This might bring home to them exactly what they are asking you for.
I will never be able to afford the kind of home I want.
That was the appeal of it for me. The extra money meant I could stretch to "a comfortable apartment" rather than "a student shitbox with no kitchen or natural light"
I thought provision and use of a guest room was a fair exchange for being able to buy and live in something nicer. So I agreed...
...but it's not a guest room.
What you need to do is put you first. Your needs come first. Your accessibility comes first. Your comfort comes first. Be strong. We love you. ❤️
I thought you'd like to see the kind of animals I have to work with. Someone has never opened a box of teabags before

I love a good perf. It gives me a little joy in my life. So when it doesn't work out I get a little frustrated. I blame Twinings. Please see exhibit A & B below.

They're very guilty of using the thinnest cardboard and having it rip constantly. Keeping it consistent around the corners is almost impossible as well.
Whoever did this didn't even try, they just tore that thing straight open.
I like to think it was a man showing off his strength to the ladies.
I always feel rebellious when I open things from 'open other side'. I'm like bitch please I'm eating the whole thing in one sitting anyway so there's no cause for alarm.
People who open packets of chips upside down don't deserve those chips.
