On Steam Deck I rather use RetroArch from the Steam store. So I can play the games everywhere offline without any NAS or internet connection required (during playtime). And still benefit from save files saved to cloud and available on other machines. Just an alternative that exists for anyone with Steam.
I don't get any sound in Retroarch on the Steam Deck. Do you have this same issue?
No issue with audio. I have played a lot. Do you use RetroArch directly from the Steam store (which I do) or through something like EmuDeck or RetroDeck maybe? In that case, it is possible that the issue lies somewhere there. Just noticed RetroArch app got finally a "Verified" status. Check if you set it to mute by accident. As for my RetroArch, in the sub menu of Settings > Audio > Output:
Audio = ON
Audio = pulse
Device = Default
Output Rate (Hz) = 48000
Audio Latency (ms) = 64
Audio Resampler = sinc
Resampler Quality = Normal
I'm not saying these are the optimal settings, just my current settings that work for me. Check those settings, change and restart RetroArch to test.
I wish I knew how to set up shit like this. Meanwhile I struggle trying to figure out how to set up Jellyseer, the ArrStack, and VPN/Torrent bullshit.... I can watch jellyfin at home... that's about it. And I have to download sepeartely and then move things to the the storage because I don't know how else to do that shit safely.
Been in your shoes. Frankly, storage setup for Radarr and Sonarr is one big pain in the ass for script kiddies like me. I did figure it out by pure trial and error in the end. But it is not as user friendly as it could have been.
I set mine up using Swizzin Community Edition. You don't have to host it on Swizzin, or on a VPS at all. It isnt Docker-based (huge plus for me). You choose which services you want when you first run the script, and it configures the reverse proxy for you. Easiest way to set up that media stack that I've found.

If you want the proxy configs automatically set up, you're limited to the list of applications. You could install other applications manually, or perhaps modify the scripts to include the applications you want.

TechHut has a guide on the arr stack and also a repo on github with most stuff setup for docker. You can just copy the .yaml file, tweak a few things to your liking and off you go.
I've never gotten the so-called one/done scripter/guides to work. At first I was running ProxMox (which I don't know enough shit about) on a miniPc, and then I have a separate NAS I've owned for a ~decade. I could get Proxmox LXC scripts to work (sometimes) but then getting them to see eachother, and have static IPs, and setting up the VPN, and a webfront end (all of which I don't know shit about)....
I gave up on all that shit... so now... I have Proxmox... running a VM of a HomeAssistantOS.... and HAOS has Jellyfin/Sonar/Radar apps running.... and I download shit on my main PC and then drag them to the NAS storage. It's all.... a shitshow, I get it, it's a shitshow...
But it's still way more organized than when it a just a explorer/folder structure and VLC player, lol.

For a VPN for torrents, make sure you use one that supports port forwarding. AirVPN is a good choice. If you're okay with Docker, gluetun is a good choice - you create a Gluetun container for the VPN, then any other Docker containers (torrent client, whatever) can use the VPN. It avoids having to use the VPN for everything.
Ah yes, that will dramatically reduce the side fumbling from the integration of the reciprocating dingle arm.
Try using an LLM to walk you through setting it all up in a docker container.
Claude in vscode with and ssh into your system. It works much better if the ai can see your system and files. Worked wonders for me

I don’t really have much server space on my NAS currently, and am holding off on a (TBH much needed) upgrade until HDD prices come down somewhat - but I would love to try and set something up like this for my (complete) library of SNES ROMs at the very least.
I just fear my old QNAP TS-419PII from ~20yrs ago is not up to the task. 😅

Yes.
Primary file will be whatever installer/iso. Supplementary stuff is a bit awkward but can be put in, and then it pulls metadata from (primarily) IGDB and Mobygames
What you're not going to pull off is a deeply automated import of PC stuff in the way you can throw a whole ROM library at it and let the scan work.
I have this going, but unfortunately it suffers from a pretty severe memory leak in its latest version. I've watched GameVault, but am not jazzed by it's product monetization approach.
