I'd absolutely love it if Star Trek (not Alex Kurtzmen) adapted the Corp of Engineers books.

The original ebook series would slot in perfectly with a 20ish episode a year release cycle, and the plots/characters are already developed, you just need to script them out.

Each book is a "problem of the week" style story, with that classic Star Trek (not Alex Kurtzmen) style character development, based on the main problem of the episode.

But, until Kurtzmen, or the mouth-breathers that keep him employed, get hit by a bus we'll never know how well it could be adapted...

I'm so grateful that my favorite book series' (Elric Saga and Abhorsen) could actually never be adapted well

Pierce Brown's Red Rising

The Dark Tower. There is a film of the same name, but it has literally nothing to do with the masterpiece of literature that is the book series. A series would be how it should be done.

Seriously, fuck that movie. I know Stephen King always gets screwed by film adaptations, but even Ender’s Game was a more accurate telling of the books. Not even the Ender’s Game books, I mean Ender’s Game was a better film adaptation of The Dark Tower books than The Dark Tower movie was. I was in seat 19, that was the closest I got to seeing any material from the books in that piece of shit movie. They even had my ideal casting for Roland and The Man In Black, what a gods damned waste.

After watching Foundation and then reading Foundation… Foundation. It could easily be done as an anthology. And as a recently Rekindled weeb, it would be fantastic as a well done anime. Really cannot understand what the Apple TV pus thing was going for other than “let’s just tell a copletely different story and co-opt the name. (Man that’s never been done before right?)

World War Z - needs to be done properly tied closely to the book as a short TV series.

I have been disapointed by so many im not sure I want any at this point.

I’d love to see The Dispossessd in film but only if it was made by people who share the same anarchist/communist ideological commitment. If Hollywood tries it you know that part will be taken out, which would take the entire heart and soul out of it.

The Cradle series by Will Wight would be pretty cool. It's 12 books long but tightly paced and doesn't mire itself in a bunch of tiny details like The Wheel of Time would. It's set in an ancient Chinese fantasy world that's part of a greater struggle in the multiverse and reads like a shonen. Its protagonist, Wei Shi Lindon starts off as a pariah with no powers before being rescued by a demigod who gives him a way to alter the fate of him and his home from an apocalyptic ending.

A 2 hour long animatic was released a few months ago and covers the first 2 books fairly well. A fully animated trailer was also released showing the promise of how well it would look if it took off.

Squirrel Girl could be good.

I think Adrien Tchaikovsky’s book series The Tyrant Philosophers would be awesome. The first book has an insane amount of characters including nearly forgotten gods, monsters, criminals, heroes, and villains.

I’d really love to see the Wild Cards (compilation series edited by George RR Martin) get something too. It’s a top-tier take on the supe genre.

i think Against a dark background by Banks could make a fucking amazing series but them I'm 99% sure they would fuck it up and I wouldn't enjoy it.

I really liked The Wool but didn't like Silo at all. Loved HHGTTG and TV series was good but it's just a fairly accurate adaptation, nothing great. The movie was weak. The first Dirk Gently show was mediocre, the second was fairly good but was only loosely based on the books.

I don't get the obsession some people have with specific lores. Good lore alone doesn't make a good show. Many shit shows were based on The Witcher. I would love to see good, deep, layered, hard Sci-Fi show and I don't care what it's based on. Good lore is like 10% of a good show. At the same time good book is good enough in itself, I don't have see it rehashed in a different format.

The Sword of Shadows series. By J.V. Jones.

The best fantasy I have read in decades. It rivals, and in some ways, is better than A Song of Ice and Fire.

And after almost a 15 year wait the penultimate book is done and the author appears to be back in the saddle to finish the series.

It is grimdark fantasy at its finest. And Jones was one of the original genre-defining authors.

I wouldn't trust any of the current producers to do it, or any decent book, justice, though. Seems like LotR was the last really epic adaptation.

I would kill to watch Asimov's work being adapted by Christopher Nolan. Personally Nolan has been a hit or a miss for me, but Asimov and him are a match made in heaven.

I'd watch Robert Asprin's MythAdventures as a show.
