Actual leftism starts at anti-capitalism. If you are not anti-capitalist, you are part of the problem.

Can someone explain the meme format to me?

[-] tyranny@crazypeople.online 2 points 2 hours ago

the normies think that the cave is all that exists, and the shadows cast in flickering light are the whole world of sensation. once you've become enlightened by leaving the cave, what you thought of as the whole world before seems so naive and inconsequential

I'm dummy thicc, what is fire?

Hate to break it to you, but we live in a world post-numerous-revolutions. Maybe we could try something different.

[-] CobraCommander@quokk.au 6 points 9 hours ago

You mean the thing western countries have been trying for the past 100 years only to result in the current encroaching fascist takeover through non-revolution while the global climate collapses leading to billions dead?

I’ll pass on that thanks.

This is literally the world you live in, in which numerous revolutions have taken place. None of them solved the problem. I'll pass on doing the same insane shit over and over again, thanks.

Individual freedoms are more than they have been in the past thousands of years. The reason things are as they are now is that we have not had a revolution in so long because liberal politics have placated people into thinking there is another path.

If revolution had not worked we would still be serfs. The failure is in the lack of continued revolution.

"It didn't work because it worked! It'll stop not working if we do it more!" is the weakest nonsense I've ever heard in support of violence. I would compare it with those chuds who beat their kids and say "well my dad beat me, and I turned out fine!"

[-] CobraCommander@quokk.au 3 points 3 hours ago

It did work, but it is a continuous process. You cannot revolt once and think everything will be perfect for ever.

But please do list your amazing alternative, I’m sure it’s achieved so much and solved all the issues we face.

What do you propose? The ruling class will not surrender their life of unimaginable luxury willingly

[-] SarahValentine@pawb.social 1 points 9 hours ago
[-] rockSlayer@lemmy.blahaj.zone 7 points 9 hours ago

Ok, but the system of oppression will still be there

[-] SarahValentine@pawb.social 1 points 8 hours ago

Those systems are run by mortals. The only reason they still stand is because there are people sustaining them, and those people are replaced as they die. Starve a system of its adherents and it will perish.

[-] rockSlayer@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 8 hours ago* (last edited 8 hours ago)

Are you proposing a general strike? Cool, I think we should go in that direction too. However, I think the general strike will be a prelude, cause, and primary factor of revolution. Why don't you?

[-] SarahValentine@pawb.social -1 points 8 hours ago

Are you proposing a general strike?

No. That would cause tremendous problems for a bunch of innocent people. The kind of change that needs to happen is one which can only happen when humanity no longer produces the kind of people who create and uphold oppressive systems. It's not something you can do by force, whether soft or hard force. Empathy and dialectic are the very latest innovations in human evolution and are far too rare as yet, especially since that population keeps getting culled by their own families and countrymen the world over.

[-] rockSlayer@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 8 hours ago

That's a lot of words to say not very much. What is your solution to overthrow the capitalist system? So far, your solution seems to be "arguing with them until they die"

[-] SarahValentine@pawb.social 0 points 8 hours ago

Oh, are you a capitalist? Because I won't argue with you until you die. I'll just block you and go talk to someone who has a point aside from ignoring my point to make glib remarks. Ta-ta.

[-] rockSlayer@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 8 hours ago

Ok, I apologize. I wasn't willing to hear you out. What is your solution? Explain it more simply. Something about starving the system, and using dialectics to do so?

[-] waltersf@bookwyr.me 1 points 10 hours ago

have we had a capitalist revolution?

[-] SolacefromSilence@fedia.io 3 points 10 hours ago

laughs in George Washington

[-] waltersf@bookwyr.me 1 points 10 hours ago* (last edited 10 hours ago)

slaves were still sold.
indigenous were still massacred.
Land was being seized…

do you think “capital” means “free trade” or something?

[-] Kirk@startrek.website 1 points 10 hours ago
