Global health officials continue to press Moscow for full transparency

The World Health Organisation (WHO) is investigating reports of a second possible pneumonic plague case in Siberia after the death of a laboratory worker who was allegedly exposed to the illness.

Global health officials are pushing Moscow for transparency following the death of 28-year-old laboratory technician Darya Shipilova at the Irkutsk Anti-Plague Research Institute in Shelekhov.

Shipilova was admitted to hospital late last month with acute respiratory failure and placed on a ventilator before passing away on 2 October.

Local media reported that she was exposed to a dangerous pathogen after accidentally shattering a sample tube during routine laboratory work.

People who are politically aligned with Vladimir Putin, Xi Jinping, Mao Zedong, Joseph Stalin, etc.

They claim there are no genocides in China, that Ukraine was invaded because Russia had to fight off Nazis, that the best democracy on earth is North Korea (which they sometimes don't even call North Korea because they believe South Korea belongs to North Korea which would just make it one Korea), and that the USA is (and has always been) an evil empire and that NATO states are all dictatorship puppet states.

They oppose Trans Rights, Homosexuality, bodily autonomy, and most human liberties, and in fact they will outright tell you that Liberals (not any individual party but the actual definition of the word) are their enemies.

They have a strong presence on the fediverse because the Lemmy platform is developed by them and any donations to the work goes towards paying the Tankie lead developers and funding their instances: Lemmy_ml, Hexbear_net, Lemmygrad_ml

I think it was coined when the USSR used Tanks to suppress protests in Hungaria in 1956, further solidified when China used Tanks to commit a massacre in 1989 protests most notably Tiananmen Square which was broadcast live to the entire world at the time.

So, no, it never described "real" communists. Just dictatorship advocates.

Right now- It's not from Russia, nothing is wrong, there is no plague

~2 months - It's not from Russia, even if it was, there is no human to human transmission, everything is fine.

~4 months - It could possibly be from Russia, but it's not from a lab, there is only limited human to human transmission, everything is fine

~6 months - Why didn't you listen to us for the last 6 months, there is a global pandemic and it's not Russia's fault, we told you about human to human transmission 6 months ago why didn't you listen?

A global pandemic really is not a significant risk here. It's a very deadly disease, but it isn't transmissible enough to spread widely
