Basically, they're trying to find a decades-ago paperwork error by her father to take away her citizenship. If they're allowed to do that, they can strip a huge fraction of Americans of their citizenship, and go ahead with Miller's plan to deport 2/3 of the US population.

There's only one immigrant who should be stripped of their citizenship and deported and that's Elon Musk.

[-] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 57 points 1 day ago

Well, make that 2. melania also lied about her college status to get her citizenship.

[-] mr_account@lemmy.world 12 points 1 day ago

President shitstain would love to send back the older-model wife so he can upgrade the newer version more easily

[-] dan1101@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

[-] iWannaTryITall@fedinsfw.app 8 points 1 day ago

You spelled shot in the face wrong

[-] Maeve@kbin.earth 9 points 1 day ago

No there are plenty. The ones who will never be targeted.

[-] ElAndvari@lemmy.world 22 points 1 day ago

Wait... Does this mean we can investigate Melania's EB-1A "Einstein Visa"?

Maybe not, she may have completed at least 3 of the 10 necessary criteria... I'm still suspicious though.

[-] kreskin@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago* (last edited 23 hours ago)

misspelled "Epstein" visa.

[-] ExLisper@lemmy.curiana.net 9 points 1 day ago

No, we can't. They can. But they won't.

[-] CareHare@sh.itjust.works 7 points 1 day ago

What about muskrats visa?

[-] artyom@piefed.social 39 points 1 day ago

they can strip a huge fraction of Americans of their citizenship

They already have. They've been revoking Visas like crazy and of course the whole H1B thing. Kinda puts to bed the ridiculous notion that they just don't want people here "illegally". They just don't want foreigners here at all. So they take legal immigrants and make them illegal.

[-] arrow74@lemmy.zip 13 points 1 day ago

Visas are not citizenship.

Revoking citizenship is much more serious

[-] silence7@slrpnk.net 31 points 1 day ago

The step from revoking visas of foreign nationals to going after citizens is a big one. They're qualitatively different things

[-] artyom@piefed.social 0 points 1 day ago

It wasn't just foreign nationals.

[-] ExLisper@lemmy.curiana.net 8 points 1 day ago

US nationals don't have Visas. You're confused.

[-] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 day ago

Then who are you talking about?

[-] altphoto@lemmy.today 6 points 1 day ago

Non white foreigners. White South American racists are welcome apparently.

South African racists too

[-] artyom@piefed.social 1 points 1 day ago

Only if they're trillionaires

Wooooow

[-] Kirp123@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

Also I think that's just the latest batch they took in, they took more of them before that.

Nancy Pelosi and other Democratic leadership helped pave the way for this islamophobic, racists, anti-feminist attack on Ilhan Omar. Nancy Pelosi claimed Ilhan Omar anti-semetic, when Omar criticized AIPAC and their outsized role in US elections. That was a multi-week news cycle liberals will almost certainly have memory holed by this time. Democratic leadership floated an effort to censure and paved the way for this attack, and to normalize these kinds of attacks of women in power, of brown people in power, of immigrants in power.

Liberals pave the ground for the role out of fascism. Clock it.

Also, Ilhan is my queen.

And for the reactionaries already downvoting reality to maintain their fantasy about being on the side of good:

Nancy Pelosi, Other Democratic Leaders Call on Ilhan Omar to Apologize, Claim She Used ‘Anti-Semitic Tropes’

[-] Pratai@piefed.ca 9 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Naaah. The downvotes are because of your inability to NOT find a way to somehow spread divisionist bullshit during an upcoming election.

You did this shit in 2024 as well. And everyone outside of your little talkie…. Everyone is tired of it.

[-] grue@lemmy.world 0 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

I generally tend to agree with and respect @TropicalDingdong, but yeah: that argument has a time and a place and right now is not it.

[-] TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

It was those silencing dissent that handed 2024 to Trump, not those making legitimate critiques during an election and being told to shut up by people who weren't bothered by their own tacit support for genocides: That is a fundamentally losing approach to elections. And everything we have regarding the 2024 post mortem shows this to be the case.

Demanding voters shut up and fall in line during an election? Its an extraordinarily anti-Democratic, and a fundamentally anti-american sentiment. Americans, as a people, will practically always resent being told what to do. They are willful like a toddler is willful, often times to their own detriment. Do what you are doing here, and you push voters away from your preferred party.

It's also a fundamentally anti Democratic sentiment, and this is something Democrats need to do far more work to address, because time and time again, they show themselves to be a highly anti-Democratic party. The Hillary campaign and DWS as dnc chair in 2016, where DNC attorney Bruce Spiva argued to the supreme Court that the party had the right to: “go into back rooms like they used to and smoke cigars and pick the candidate that way”. Then their sabatoging of Bernie in 2020, their coronation of Biden and then Harris in 2024, I mean shit, the more recent Mayors race in NYC, and just about every primary where a now leading candidate was being being attacked by the corporate power structurs within the DNC. Democrats as leadership and as a party do not respect the democratic process. Leadership is willing to weight the scales, and voter accept and expect this.

Democrats have a severe problem with both the act and the idea of democracy. And by agreeing with my opponent in this debate, you are showing a preference for an authorarian, anti Democratic, and in my opinion, fundamentally anti American form of politics.

[-] Pratai@piefed.ca -1 points 1 day ago

Yeah. I don’t. They’re a divisionist fountain of propaganda.

If this happens and we don't get violent...we've given up. jfc.

[-] IndustryStandard@lemmy.world 16 points 1 day ago

Much worse things have happened, and nobody got violent. Americans will only get violent when their direct benefits are endangered, not for the sake of others.

[-] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 6 points 1 day ago

You're one of those. What lets you sleep at night is the lie that this next horrible thing can't happen because if it does, then something would finally be done about it. And then it happens, and nothing is done, but still you tell yourself that the next horrible thing won't happen because if it did something would finally be done about it

[-] TargaryenTKE@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

Sorry but do you also have a non-paywalled version of that Stephen Miller article?

[-] silence7@slrpnk.net 2 points 18 hours ago* (last edited 18 hours ago)

You can use archive.is or register with the link I gave before. Your choice. The specific quote:

Last year, [Trump] reportedly quipped during a campaign meeting that if it was up to Mr. Miller, the population of the United States would be only 100 million people and they’d all resemble Mr. Miller

The US population is something above 300 million

[-] SnarkoPolo@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

"Oh, I know. But I just couldn't vote for Harris. I have to sleep at night."

[-] watson387@sopuli.xyz 3 points 1 day ago
