Also, we need to stop teaching Arabic numbers in school! /s

[-] perishthethought@piefed.social 6 points 2 hours ago

Its really surprising to hear him say that, considering how deep his boss is in the pockets of the Saudi Royal family....

[-] Burn_The_Right@lemmy.today 18 points 4 hours ago

It's almost like conservatives are dumb as fuuuuuuuuuuuuck.

[-] GalacticGrapefruit@lemmy.world 16 points 4 hours ago

So... algebra, alchemy, algorithms, all that cool stuff that kind of formed the building blocks of modern science and math are just... what, fantasy concepts?

[-] ExLisper@lemmy.curiana.net 9 points 4 hours ago

If someone wants to show how wrong he is about Arabs not winning Nobel prizes it's better to name modern day Arab Nobel prize laureates like Ahmed Hassan Zewail, Naguib Mahfouz or Omar Mwannes Yaghi that to talk about Arabic numerals or algebra. Just saying.

[-] Wataba@sh.itjust.works 10 points 4 hours ago

Brainworm asshole spouts more lies.

[-] TheMadIrishman@sh.itjust.works 24 points 5 hours ago

GET THE ARABIC NUMERALS OUT OF OUR EDUCATION SYSTEM

-Some of them. Actually.

[-] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 4 points 4 hours ago

Along with the pronouns

[-] ThePowerOfGeek@lemmy.world 8 points 6 hours ago

"It's time to go back to runes!"

[-] ArmchairAce1944@lemmy.ca 2 points 4 hours ago

Based on the ultima runes! By Richard Garriott.

[-] CrimeIsLegalNow@ani.social 7 points 5 hours ago* (last edited 5 hours ago)

The funny thing about runes is they're based on the Roman alphabet.

Those shit eating barbarians didn't discover writing until it was forced on them by Mediterranean cultures~

[-] foggy@lemmy.world 6 points 5 hours ago

IT WAS A ROMAN SALUTE 🫡

[-] nymnympseudonym@piefed.social 155 points 8 hours ago

Unsurprisingly, he doesn't know algebra

[-] yesman@lemmy.world 99 points 8 hours ago

You have to learn Arabic numerals fist.

[-] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 35 points 7 hours ago

That's exactly what Barack Hussein Obama would want you to do!

[-] SatansMaggotyCumFart@piefed.social 4 points 6 hours ago* (last edited 6 hours ago)

I will only learn the american ones.

[-] PattyMcB@lemmy.world 2 points 1 hour ago

...so I told that dumbass (most people don't know there's a B in dumb) kindergarten teacher: "I don't need to learn no alphabet. The only letters I need to know are U, S, and A!"

[-] floofloof@lemmy.ca 22 points 8 hours ago

Unsurprisingly, he doesn't know shit.

[-] HumanOnEarth@lemmy.ca 14 points 8 hours ago

You mean Al-jabr

[-] Imgonnatrythis@sh.itjust.works 5 points 5 hours ago

Dammit. Who the hell wrote all this stuff then? What a massive coverup!

From: https://www.reuters.com/legal/government/us-health-chief-rfk-jr-faces-widespread-rebuke-over-his-anti-arab-remarks-2026-10-27/

"There's 500 million Arabs in the world, and yet they don't produce science, they don't win the Nobel Prize, they don't win the Fields prize, they don't win the Wolf Prize, they don't produce literature," the US health chief said.

Arabs have won all those prizes. Peter Hotez, who is a professor at the Baylor College of Medicine and specializes in vaccine development and tropical medicine, said his late colleague, Nobel Prize winner Ahmed Zewail, who was Arab and died in 2016, "would disagree" with the US health chief's comments.

Give him some credit. He's a fucking moron, too

[-] Malica@lemmy.zip 14 points 5 hours ago

Worse, he's a Nazi racist, complete with eugenics obsession.

[-] TrickDacy@lemmy.world 7 points 5 hours ago* (last edited 5 hours ago)

Since 2015 we don't hide our racism anymore! I mean of course we say we aren't racist, but every other thing is okay to say.

[-] Frozengyro@lemmy.world 2 points 4 hours ago

I might use a hard R, but at least I'm not racist ...

/s cause satire isn't real anymore.

[-] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 40 points 8 hours ago

2025 Chemistry Nobel Winner was from Jordan.

[-] ThePowerOfGeek@lemmy.world 7 points 6 hours ago

Bold of him to being up the Nobel Prize. When his boss hears that term he instantly throws a full-on toddler hissy fit.

Uh what? lol.

Apparently, this satirical news: Mamdani to introduce rules requiring schools to teach 'Arabic numerals' pissed a bunch of people off.

It’s ridiculous, obviously, but some people are far more racist than rational.

Where the absolute blue fuck do these people think mathematics came from? I’ll wait.

[-] maxthemummer@lemmus.org 6 points 5 hours ago* (last edited 5 hours ago)

I heard Trump talked about wanting to change "Arabic Numerals" to "American Numerals."

[-] LillyPip@lemmy.ca 7 points 5 hours ago

Ffs don’t say that out loud.

[-] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 17 points 8 hours ago

He really is up there with some of the dumbest people ever

Mesopotamia is known as the "cradle of civilization" and made significant contributions to science and technology, including the invention of writing, mathematics, and advanced irrigation systems. They also developed early astronomy and created the first calendar based on lunar cycles.

[-] jtrek@startrek.website 10 points 6 hours ago

I thought this was the onion. This is real? What's the opposite of eating the onion? Crying?

Love when the cult of the antivaxxed hold this guy up as their best and brightest, just the dumb leading the dumber.

[-] LillyPip@lemmy.ca 4 points 4 hours ago* (last edited 4 hours ago)

Ow! I stabbed out both my eyes for god! Follow me to the truth!

[-] hopesdead@startrek.website 14 points 7 hours ago* (last edited 7 hours ago)

Fuck you. I can easily name Al-Battani who’s work contributed to the development of science in the 10th century.

EDIT: Yes, I can only name them thanks to Star Trek, but the point stands!

[-] zarathustrad@lemmy.world 13 points 7 hours ago

Careful, they have labeled Al-gebra a terrorist organization.

The concept of zero is a woke mind virus.
