Should we host a Rugby community? (self.support)

As far as I've been able to find so far there's only one Rugby community and it seems to be on an instance that might be mostly spam bots.

I know its not everyone's cup of tea, but given tis a big popular topic in NZ it might be nice if we hosted the community? Just a thought.

Since the community is small maybe it could be for all sports? I'd definitely post when there's a good ufc card on.

Seems a bit niche considering there have not been many sports posts yet? It is a more general issue, do we wait until there is a need or 'build it and they will come'?

Saw post by @Fizz@lemmy.nz as I was typing this (nice feature!) and agree at least at this stage a more generic NZ sports community would be better.

Yeah I get that, though New Zealand as a topic is probably as niche as sports in general and we have communities for different regions in NZ as well :)

But for sure its a matter of wait, or build it.

It sounds like !sports is of interest to a few people here.

Any arguments against doing a !sports community? (as opposed to a !rugby community, or just putting it in !newzealand)
