Supposedly, an RS-26 was launched from Astrakhan and targeted at infrastructure in Dnipro.

Key Points:

  • Suigi has secured all five major speedrunning categories in Super Mario 64, effectively declaring the game's speedrunning community 'dead'.
  • Suigi's dominance is so profound that his records in all 5 main categories remain largely unchallenged.

The Five Star Categories:

  • 120 star: Completes every single star in the game.
  • 70 star: Completes all normal requirements to reach the final level.
  • 16 star: Uses glitches and techniques to significantly reduce required stars.
  • 1 star: Further optimizes the 16 star run for a single star collection.
  • 0 star: Eliminates stars entirely, focusing on time.

Background Details:

  • Some of Suigi's records were set over a year ago; his 16-star record alone still leads by 6 seconds.
  • Suigi estimates it could take up to a couple of years before someone else beats his current world records.

How do you feel about the dedication and skill demonstrated in these ultra-optimized speedruns? Do such efforts bring value to gaming or are they more of an academic exercise?

A young Australian woman was the latest confirmed death, and her friend was fighting for her life, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said. Two Danish citizens and an American had also died, officials said, after what media said was a night out in Vang Vieng where they drank possibly tainted alcohol. The group of about a dozen tourists became ill after going out on November 12, according to British and Australian media.

Vang Vieng has been a fixture on the Southeast Asia backpacker trail since Laos' secretive communist rulers opened the country to tourism decades ago. The town was once notorious for backpackers behaving badly at jungle parties and has since re-branded as an eco-tourism destination. On their travel advice websites for Laos, UK and Australian authorities warn their citizens to beware of methanol poisoning while consuming alcohol in Laos.

Methanol can be added to liquor to increase its potency, but can cause blindness, liver damage and death. In neighbouring Thailand, at least six people died and more than 20 were hospitalised after drinking methanol-laced bootleg alcohol in August.

For me it's DJ Peach Cobbler. I've been watching his videos since he had around 2,000 subscribers. Now it's nearly 450,000.

He used to mostly make videos on games, now he does a lot of history stuff too. He also has a little satirical news show, and a few tasteful shitposts. A really diverse YouTube channel.

What's your favorite YouTube channel that's not a mainstream big-name like pewdiepie, mrbeast, ksi, etc...?

Today's game is Uncharted 4. This was a landscape shot i took, the photo mode doesn't remove sniper lasers though, but that's okay because I'm sure Sniper Lasers are a naturally occurring part of jungles anyways. Today's screenshots are a bit sparse because this season is going to be a bit busy for me.

On top of uncharted, I wanted to get a screenshot from me and my friends Halo 2 Legendary, but me and my friend have been having an issue with the gravemind level. It keeps crashing at a door way. Once we finally got past that we got a network disconnect error and called it quits for today. I did get a screenshot of this trippy globe thing on a Halo 3 map while playing a game with my brother and my friend.

I also took a screenshot of the landscape of the Island in Uncharted 4. The way it generates reminds me of old Minecraft and how you could get villages generating with wacky terrain elevations

Tomorrow I'm hoping to get the Halo 2 level out of the way, but we'll have to see. I have a busy week and I'd also like to get Uncharted out of the way for something I'm excited to get to next.

From Iraq to Afghanistan to the US, basic freedoms for women are being eroded as governments start rolling back existing laws.

Just a few months ago a ban on Afghan women speaking in public was the latest measure introduced by the Taliban, who took back control of the country in 2021. From August the ban included singing, reading aloud, reciting poetry and even laughing outside their homes.

The Taliban’s ministry for the propagation of virtue and the prevention of vice, which implements one of the most radical interpretations of Islamic law, enforces these rules. They are part of a broader set of “vice and virtue” laws that severely restrict women’s rights and freedoms. Women are even banned from reading the Quran out loud to other women in public.

In the past three years in Afghanistan, the Taliban has taken away many basic rights from women who live there, so that there’s very little that they are allowed to do.
