Welcome to today’s daily kōrero!

Anyone can make the thread, first in first served. If you are here on a day and there’s no daily thread, feel free to create it!

Anyway, it’s just a chance to talk about your day, what you have planned, what you have done, etc.

So, how’s it going?

I tried posting on /c/world, but the posts didn't show on /c/world. I checked modlog, I didn't find if I was banned. I also checked inbox and I couldn't find any messages if I was banned.

And I've tried posting on lemmy.world support but the post wasn't there

Any explanation for this?

We bought all our boys a second Nintendo switch for Christmas only to find we can't sharen potentially bought games across them (bloody annoying).

Does anyone know anyone who fits modchips on these? The soldering is a bit too micro for my skill level.

I'm interested to read about discoveries regarding health, food and longevity as I'm planning to stick around as long as possible. I already found Stanfords publications on longevity. Just wondering if you have any other reading tips? Ideally with an Rss feed.

I'm only interested in information backed by science as much as possible.

The ‘old man’ passed away just before Christmas 3 years ago. This is a bottle I bought him for his 65th with plans to share it with him on his 75th - that would have been this year

Here’s to lost friends and family that we can’t share today with.

I've got a Sureflap cat flap operated by 4 AA batteries. It doesn't work well on rechargeables, it seems to need 1.5v batteries.

I'm thinking to hardwire it with battery backup (like a Ups). I'm not very experienced in electronics, are there any off the shelf products I could use? I'm assuming the flap runs at 6v and that I can just attach two cables, one to plus, one to min.

If there are no off the shelve products, any recommendations for what I should buy?

I'm not sure that there's actually anything in here that you "need to know", but I found it interesting none the less.

The chance of Wellington experiencing an acute water shortage this summer has increased, while emergency water tanks sell out around the region.

New modelling from Wellington Water shows there is now a 33 percent chance of the region seeing an acute water shortage rather than a 24 percent chance that had been previously recorded.

Under that type of shortage, level 4 water restrictions would be brought into place which would ban all outdoor water use and reduce indoor water use by up to 50 percent.

"I came down to the hen house to check the eggs and see that my girls were all right. I opened the door of the nesting box to find not only a chicken laying an egg, but a kiwi curled up fast asleep," she said.

Air New Zealand is seeing a rise in the number of abusive passengers, with nearly 200 reports a month of unacceptable behaviour.

The airline said the unruly behaviour was becoming more extreme.

Chief operational integrity and safety officer Captain David Morgan said the severity and impact of the incidents had increased over time and there had been recent cases where people had been assaulted.
