Rule 5: Keep it civil. It's OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It's NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.

Look, fuck russia sideways with a rusty fork, but I dont think they would attack nato. It would be suicide
I think Putin will, but only when he's finally on the ropes with Ukraine or internally.
Then he'll attack NATO in order to provoke a response - the the prospect of full-scale war with NATO (and full mobilisation of the sons and daughters of Moscow and St. Petersburg) will allow Putin to secure a quick peace treaty that will likely force him out of Ukraine, but since it wasn't Ukraine that beat him, but 'all of NATO' he'll be able to avoid the window himself.
We all think they won't attack Ukraine also.
I mean, when the cia under Biden warned it was coming, I felt he was pretty certain. In any case I hope I am right and russia doesn't try to properly attack a nato country
Biden warned the world days beforehand, everyone was like this same "yeah bro Russia's attacking tomorrow, haha, for sure bro" until the tanks rolled across the border.

Yes they havent "explicitly" targeted a nato country, as per an attack, at least not so intentionally as to cause the other nato countries to respond with direct action.
Several intelligence agencies are saying it's likely but this Lemmy user doesn't think so. I'm not sure who to believe.
They have all been saying it for months now "oh russia is going to attack soon!" While I cant discount it entirely, its a great way to justify an increase in military spending and conscription. Manufacturing consent. I think we can all hope that it wont happen. Im just giving my perspective, as one does on a platform such as this.
I get your point. And this year we've learned that wars are mutual plans by the epstein class. Conflict areas are organized for military industries to funnel money and test autonomous weaponry

They haven't defeated any forces. Or do you mean the US because Trump wouldn't get involved?
Correct. Russia and China have effectively defeated the USA portion of NATO because I truly believe Trump and the GOP would refuse summons from an Article 5.

Maybe. Trump's power is waning, and it's hard to predict exactly what he would do anyway. It's likely democrats will control congress next year and can send aid. If Europe can hold out until 2029, a different president might be more willing to provide active support.
Why would anyone who considers Europe an advarsary wait until they rebuild their militaries?
During the first impeachment hearings Dr. Hill said a lot of things that are worth remembering. One of those things is that Russia had a plan for whichever candidate won the trump v clinton election.
With 53 GOP senators Trump is all powerful in the USA. They already purged the military generals and the rest of the federal government employees.
Resistance is coming from local and state levels which means fuck all for NATO.
