A place for all those who loathe AI to discuss things, post articles, and ridicule the AI hype.
Proud supporter of working people. And proud booer of SXSW 2024.
AI, in this case, refers to LLMs, GPT technology, and anything listed as "AI" meant to increase market valuations.

What I find even more revolting is this “any form of accountability is an attack, and I am, therefore, always a victim!” mentality people constantly use to excuse their shitty shitty actions and to avoid even a single iota of self reflection and or self improvement paired with an almost distain for the active consideration of anything or anyone else outside of their own selfish wants and needs
The victim mentality has been a thing forever but lately people seem to be supporting it. I think this is the result of an overextension of the otherwise helpful trending attitude around being conscious of others' mental health. I predict soon we'll see a backlash against both the helpful and maladaptive versions of this attitude, championed by the "self-sufficient man" archetype-- think of the "Oh my god you people can't do anything" tweet that this post's title is referencing.
I think that this is the backlash— the maladaptive use of the victim complex to further the agenda of the fascist as the “forever victim“ for anyone (let alone everyone) having dared had their revolting beliefs be challenged by reason.
If you think there is a forthcoming backlash against this usage… perhaps. if so, it had better be fierce and unforgiving. maybe this could be the start of it, and it’s a long fucking time coming.
Personally, I think it's kind of an online toxicity thing. Everyone is always shitting on everyone else in the most aggressive way possible, so people get defensive out of habit. You also cannot shit on other people if you think there is even a possibility of being wrong, it requires utmost confidence; so it promotes a close-minded ideology. You can't reflect while shitting on people, only in the toilet
Trying to dunk on someone and getting Uno-reverse counter-dunked is like the epitome of online shame and embarrassment. So just never be wrong and determinedly double-down-dog dunk dubious drama
why have self reflection when you can have self esteem?
Oh, the irony of that statement, lol
Yes, it was somewhat sarcastic.
It's about fake/insecure self-evaluation. You know, we're on the internet and in the attention economy: a world of external validation by humans and by software.
Can you imagine how Goodhart's law would apply to "self-esteem 📈"?
Then I would be my parents! D:
It really doesn't help this kind of attitude when you always have an AI sycophant in your pocket.
Our leadership puts it forth as normal behavior. There’s a lack of role models right now.
Not all leadership. Republicans, specifically. their entire platform is grievance politics.
But we have some excellent role models running for office. Make sure to get out and vote!
What role models? Apart from Zohran, I haven’t seen any Dems recently who stand out.
I don't see how bitching about a dumb interaction with a customer is accountability but keyboard warriors gotta feel self righteous too ig
Did you even read my whole comment, or just stop at the part that made you feel bad about yourself?
Because, if you had continued reading, there was a bit in there about self-reflection…
