They went with the assumption that as Google buys their data and replaces their links in search queue with LLM gen answers, their organic traffic from searches would get reduced into nothingness, so they can push their login requirement with little drawbacks. They increase price of each ad via personalization in a short run, but without a drag of the likes of Instagram, Discord, Whatsapp etc there would hardly be new users to create content.

Paper cup coffees and regular cigs are better of these evils. Foam is cursed, but not as cursed as disposable or even rechargeable vape. It's like comparing soft and cold, but someone's more obvious individual likeness to get a lung cancer may be less significant than a trace of li-pol batteries they'd leave after them, I believe.

Was the article pulled, or it's DW site's shenanigans? I see news feed about elections but as I scroll there is no news piece about that exact topic.

It is a Reddit post about a tweet where

a person claims they found Samsung TV to always listen

they used Claude to reverse-engineer and find that spy feature

then got their acc suspended by OpenAI after that.

Headlines/post titles are hard, but they are the face of the thing you post, OP should've given more effort summing up what they want to share.

Judging by your card transactions, with just one margarita before a queue of vodka shots, you haven't really tried.

Giving up evil and killing wasn't the way. Reframing it in the media was.

You know that you can steal $20 and get killed by cops, but steal millions and you aren't even charged?

Rephrasing The Godfather book, lone wolf black pill sigma male can kill just that much, but one wholesome DOGE technocrat can destroy programs saving lives of millions.

Double standards, man! Yet, the evil persists and grows exponentially.

I can't untangle this song from Godflesh's Like Rats. For me they play in unison with each other, but from different perspectives. Both are industrial music monuments of their own though.

As you can see, there are rarely told about artifacts that are obvious coming from that frame-by-frame masking technology, especially flickery change of global lights, shadows, textures, LOD objects. Watching him playing it makes it nauseating. And even if he had twice the specs he have now, these crawling changes to the picture would be faster, but they won't be any more consistent.

NVIDIA packed a lot of side-products to promote their hardware, and from all of them DLSS5 is their worst hill they will to die on. While some like Broadcast enabled streamers to clear their sound channel or improve visuals, sampling tech and hyper resolution tricks made demanding games a bit more performant (if ever), this fancyfier only gobbles resources while providing a picture that's not only counter to what artists wanted to show, but just plain incomprehensible when seen in motion.

And it's not like we can wait for DLSS6 to fix that. The graphics pipeline behind this technology is built to fail at everything but a still screenshot. But it would still trend as long as there would be CEOs and directors who don't play their own games and can't tell the difference, or there wouldn't be enough bad press that is more probable.

Let's skip the whole bit of me still living there and come to the post's subject

The culture of paying for stuff there is complicated. While at most places like general stores you can pay with both cash and cards/QR, and that goes for like 15 years, some places prefer one mode exclusively, e.g. privately-owned buses do only cash or newer shops not having a traditional cash register at all. You learn that as you go, and I generally avoid the second ones.

The difference doesn't stop here though, and depending on infrastructure leverage, stores either use their own hardware to accept payments, or they use one from Sberbank, the main bank in Russia, for a fee.

Southern mega store chain Magnet uses their own scan panels you put your card onto and what they have on you, especially if you use a loyalty card to link all your purchases to the same account, is with them and them alone.

But smaller chains and single stores use Sber infrastructure and their card readers. While these accept any russian card, there always was a fear that they still process and look into every payment even if you aren't their client.

Moreso, the recent models of their card scanners are equipped with a camera, and they can and do scan your face. I was oblivious to it for some time, but recently I got a very urgent reminder.

I bought a jug of beer at a small chain of breweries and when it came to paying for it, their Sberbank scanner got into "pay by smile" mode. I didn't notice it at the time, and even put a card of another bank to the scanner, but when I got home I realised it took money from my Sber account, from the card I never carry with me.

So, unknown to me, they got my face biometrics and billed me based on that. With how many places have these Sber's readers, I got tracked by face in almost every place providing products and services, with enough precision bank fiends trust it. That's cops' paradise.

Keeping in mind I'm still yanking myself out of serving for obvious reasons, I'm pretty terrified that if they'd want me in, they'd have a realtime report of where and when I bought stuff, they can take me on exit. There were leads, like triangulating my simcard usage or payment history, but they weren't as firm as a picture of my face at this place at this time. That's the whole another level of surveiliance you'd hardly dodge as long as you need food or water.

I don't know if it's the case in other countries, but I want to to warn you that it can happen, and it's even worse than Flock.

My friends were asking me last night how I handle ppl who won’t stop talking about themselves and I was like, idk man, I think I get so bored I just start looking around and there’s usually a cool bird and then I go

“Oh wow! Look at that bird!” And the conversation immediately improves.

It all boils down to the old and tired argument of "comedy+slasher vs pure slasher".

After watching Burn, and generally enjoying it, I find the direction it and other new movies take don't have that much personality as 2 and 3 movies had. One can easily take Evil Dead props from them and they would be good but generic horror spectacles. The inclusion of absurd humor was what made it stand out to me from other horrors, underlined by a pretty generic name laughing at them, and I feel like deviating from that formula makes the series lose it's face, what made it unique.

But is there even a space in feature film industry for a comic horror? Not a couple of jokes and nods you see in many movies, incl. Burn, but the whole thing being a rollercoaster of self-conscious gags and scares? If there is one, I don't think it would work for Hellraiser, or Predator, or Saw, but Evil Dead can be the single best franchise to try it once again.

In spite of that, we see modern movies doubling down on current horror trends, with just a couple of gags. It pays the bill, but doesn't have as much energy as previous works that spawned it's own fandom and niche. If they were just one-offs, they could've easily being forgotten after a year.

Is there a space and possibility for another banger that joins horror and comedy? Are there examples I haven't yet seen? I want Lemmy moviegoers to share their opinions.

The guy locked himself in the cockpit of a standing plane after, as reported, 5 months of un- or underpaid labor with some flight neccessities being paid by himself. No one was in any danger, and only employer is to blame there. Although the information comes from the side of the pilot alone and is questionable, the stance of the blog writer is obviously pro-corporate as they compare this to hijacking, like real hijacking in the air, and not a comparatively harmless stake pilot actually did.
