Good grief that title is horrendous.
“The co-accused of a rapist who allegedly conspired with other men to drug and sexually abuse his wife can be named for the first time after reporting restrictions were lifted.”
I used to read a lot of crime and horror novels in my teens. I thought I’d heard it all but the pit of depravity seems to be bottomless. I’m so shocked and disgusted by the perpetrators and horrified for the victims.
What is wrong with the title? It conveys the same information as your version with significantly fewer words.
The title as is can be read (and is how I read it) as “men who allegedly helped ‘rapist drug’ and ‘abuse wife’ (a-byoos, not ah-byouse) can be named”
I was just reading about how prevalent this is in America. Apparently it is actually fairly common, and ORGANIZED. Cases are starting to come to light, and this issue is soon going to become a big deal here, when more people find out about it.
I read about one women who found out that her husband had been drugging her, and allowing men to rape her, for YEARS, and she never knew it, until the police told her.
Oh oh good, it's legal to talk about the rapists now. Were it that we lived in a world where these fucking rapists (not "men who helped drug blah blah blah) had to go through a committee and a cooling off period and loads of scrutiny before they could rape this poor woman. But alas, state protections do not apply to many of us.
In some cases it's because the victims can be identified by naming the defendants. In others it's because they haven't been convicted yet and media bias might influence the trial.
And the cops search your person when you "look suspicious" or "fit the description". And the judges increase jail time when you "are a risk". And on and on. It's just simply coincidence that these things corelate to perceived class status, and have forever.
I'm not arguing the system isn't corrupt, I'm saying there are good reasons for not releasing names.

The husband, who still cannot be named to maintain his wife's anonymity, initially denied any wrongdoing but has since pleaded guilty to a number of the charges he faces - including rape - although he is set to stand trial on others.

All the guilty should be jailed for the rest of their lives, without the chance for any sort of parole. They deserve to die in prison.
